| ClaretnBlue History ClaretnBlue the third in a line of Hastings United websites, and one that wants to rival the other United sites, Ghost Of and the Official Site, which do have their advantages. ClaretnBlues aim was to get something different on the web, the two other sites are very similar in text, but I think we can say we have our differences with the others. The site was born on 31st August 2002, our very first match report was against Hednesford Town at home in the Dr Martens Premier Division in which United duly won 2-0. After that both webmasters at that time Sandy and Mark Harmer worked on new ideas, most many people didnt get to see, many have taken off many havent. We started adding pages, and after the website took shape, we redesigned it a couple of times. Of course our opening season of ClaretnBlue ended horrifically with only three wins in 2003 wasnt enough to keep us up as we couldnt emulate the form we showed, and the last away trip of the season at Weymouth ended in a draw, Hinckley also in relegation fight won at Tiverton Town 2-0, to give United no hope of any comeback, and resulting in United going back where theyd come from the season before. ClaretnBlue celebrated our first year on the net, unfortunately after that Mark decided to call it a day, with work commitments, so Joe Waghorne has taken over from him. Mark does do somethings on the site still. But during November 2003 ClaretnBlue took a turn for the worst when accessing the website to update it wasnt available, so it closed until the 9th January 2004 when Sandy took over, normal service has now been resumed. We hope that we can go into our second term can top of the class. PS. Mark and I arent related just coincidence. Sandy Harmer Age: 17 Lives: Hastings How long youve supported Hastings: since 1992 so thats 11 years now, never seems it. Did remember around the late 80s early 90s going but didnt start constantly going until 1992. Best United memory: FA Cup First Proper Round at Stevenage Borough what a game, and what a performance, also the title winning season in the Dr Martens Eastern Division which couldnt have been better. Worst United memory: FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round Replay, at Crawley Town, 2-0 up at the break and then we go to 2-2 at full time and Crawley score in extra time to clinch an away tie against Exeter City. Just heartbreaking. Hope for the future: A new stadium, and hopefully Conference football. Mark Harmer Age: 24 Lives: Sevenoaks How long youve supported Hastings: 1996, the Steve Cuggy, Nicky Dent, Simon Ullathorne era, I was there, every home, and maybe an odd away game. Best United memory: Dr Martens Eastern Division at Grantham Town top of the table clash 1-0 down, ten minutes to go, Landry down in the box, penalty, Mylie goes up and scores. And the Stevenage match in the FA Cup last term. Worst United memory: Back page of the observer saying CLOSED by the Pilot Field, when Mark Gardiner tried killing the club, thanks Mr Maplesden, Britton, and Pilbeam. Hope for the future: A massive run in the FA Cup, and four figure crowds at the Pilot Field every week. Disclaimer This website is totally independent of Hastings United Football Club.
