GOOD-WIN ACROSS THE CHANNEL
Newport IOW 1 (Bracknell 56 Min)
Hastings United 2 (Goodwin 19 Min, Honey 22 Min)

Attendance
196

For the first time in 12 years Hastings United won at Newport IOW after United had no success on their last two attempts at St Georges Park, united only let in one goal at a wind-swept ground, all had high hopes after a good win against Stamford and Newports on-going troubles things looked to be turning Uniteds way.

United started brightly and with the wind behind them United took total advantage, United took the lead on 19 minutes, a Ryan Peters corner was taken by the wind, the ball went through the box, and hit Mark Goodwin who dispatched the ball home, to give United some joy.

The United fans went even more jubilant three minutes later, Chris Honey ran at the defence, and hit a hard powerful shot, that hit the Newport defender, it fooled the keeper and the ball went straight in the net.  United two-up after 22 minutes, total surprise.

United shouldve taken their chances as United would nearly regret it, not many other stats to talk about.

The second half started with Newport coming more and more into the match, and on 56 when Adam Bracknell took advantage of the wind, a long ball up the field by the keeper, David Henham went for the ball and missed the header Bracknell picked up the ball and rounded keeper Chris May and scored to bring the Islanders back into the match.

Newport couldve got an equaliser late on, but when Ashley Wright got past Chris May again his weak shot was kicked off the line by captain marvel Jimmy Elford.

But United went home very happy, three points, but Steve Lovell wants United to play better, and we do need to, Eastleigh on Saturday the high scorers, hopefully Peter Mortley will be back and United can hope a high attendance.
