BULLS UP AT BURNHAM
Burnham 3 (Emms 8 Min, Horsted 10 Min, Jones 50 Min)
Hastings United 1 (Eldridge 18 Min)

Attendance
129

United have lost their fine run of results, with a rather disappointing defeat at lowly Burnham, United who were on a rich run of results, but mainly due to the impressive late home record were left rather stunned after finding themselves 2 goals down after just 10 minutes.

Burnham took the lead on the 8th minute, Chris Ferdinand crossed in a free kick which Paul Brett headed past Chris May and the ball found Roger Emms at the far post who stabbed home to give the home side the advantage.  United tried to reply quickly but before they could they were behind even more.  A long kick by the keeper found Lockhart who passed to John Horsted (who scored their fluke equaliser back in December) who ran past the standing defence and dispatched pass the rather exposed Chris May.

But United did come back on 18 Minutes United were awarded a free kick from 20 yards out, Russell Eldridge stepped up and placed it into the top of the net, United then pressed for an equaliser, they had the better of the play, but a creative influence wasnt there.

Burnhams Junior Edwards missed a one-on-one a minute into the second half, but it didnt really matter as four minutes later United were 3-1 down.  John Horsted released the ball to Daryl Jones who cut inside the box and turned past Jimmy Elford to score at the near post.  United were in disarray, and never really recovered from the second goal, Mitchell Sherwood hit a low bobbling shot at goal but Smith saved, Horsted had two other chances both flying over the bar.

Chris Honey headed over the bar from Russells cross when it seemed easier to score, and Peter Taylor lobbed the ball over the goal after a good through-ball from Mitchell Sherwood.

On good authority from a Burnham friend, we were poor, but the tactics were changed and didnt work, Peter Mortley had a torrid match, while Mark Green and Mitchell Sherwood were the ones who shone.  And that from a Burnham fan, so United go into the last game against Histon, Histon three points behind leaders Kings Lynn, but Histon are one goal down in the goal difference, and have a slight chance of clinching the title.  Kings Lynn travel to London to take on Fisher Athletic.  Maybe a big gate next Saturday, but United should (hopefully) pick up the Hastings Senior Cup on Wednesday when we entertain Sidley United (no match report due to prior engagements)
