Charles Carothers, eldest child of James and Mary (Porter) Carrithers was born in the Province of Ulster, Ireland, the county not now known (1933). He emigrated to the colonies with his parents in 1779 as by oath of allegiance of his father. James: married in Pennsylvania, purchased the home farm of his father's in what is now Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. 1796.
He never changed his name from Carothers as did the others, his descendants today use Carothers. He was the only one of the children to remain in Pennsylvania.
