(I) ALEXANDER GORDON is said to have descended from the Gordons of Hallhead, but proof is lacking. Edward Gordon thought the scoin of that family who went to Abergeldie would "possibly be Adam, younger son of the third Laird, or one of the sons of Patrick, the fourth of Hallhead." One of these was Walter, who is said to have died without issue, but the same authority suggests he may have had a natural son. The names Adam and Walter did not come down in this family, nor the BOVAGLIE line.

This Alexander Gordon, noted in 1696, had at least two children.
1. James, of whom presently
2. Donald in Garmaddy, who appeared before the Kirk-Session of Crathie in 1718, to answer for his alleged irregular marriage to " a popish wife."

(II) JAMES GORDON was a shoemaker at Clachenturn, who probably benefitted from the large Market held annually in that once populous hamlet. He married Elspeth McHardy, and had issue:
1. Donald, of whom presently
2. Charles, baptised 7.2.1725
3. Peter, who married 4.7.1747, Janet Mitchell, and had, probably with other issue (gap in the register):
(1) James, baptised 9.3.1763
(2) Donald, born Tullochcoy, baptised 18.6.1766
(3) Charles, twin with Donald.

(III) DONALD GORDON in Tournournan, which lies about half a mile east of Clachenturn, in the Haugh of Abergeldie, married Janet Abercrombie, and had issue:
1. Mary, baptised 3.1.1742
2. Charles, baptised 12.10 1746, of whom nothing is known.
3. James of Khantore, of whom presently.
4. Peter, born 1750
5. Ann, who married John Duncan.
6. Margaret, who married Donald McGregor, Braemar, and had issue.
7. John, who married 19.1.1793, Margaret Fleming, with issue, a son John, born at Bovaglie and bp 8.10.1793. He is probably the same man who married Catherine Gruar, and had further issue in Clachenturn.

(IV) JAMES GORDON, born circa 1747 or 1748, was in Tournournan, later Khantore (which lies up the hill from Tournournan). He married first Janet Smith or Gow, and secondly, May or Mary Brown. To his first wife Janet Smith or Gow he had:
1. Peter, of whom presently.
2. Janet, who married Peter Gordon in Camlet.
3. Margaret, born 1.6.1768, who married John Gordon in Camlet, as his second wife.
4. Donald in Bovaglie.
5. Jane, who married John Thow.
6. Ann, baptised 21.3.1774.
7. Helen, baptised 28.10.1776, who married James Stewart, Glenmuick, 1797.
8. Nicolas or Nicola, baptised 3.1.1779, who married Joseph Gordon in Camlet, and died 1868.
9. Alexander

James Gordon married for a second time - Mary Brown - with further issue:

12. Mary, baptised 1.3.1793.

(V) PETER GORDON, born 1765, was a cattle-dealer and for a time lived at Tombreck. He died at Khantore, 2.12.1847. Peter married, 27.8.1796, Margaret Riach or Reoch, from Glenmuick, and by her who died in 1817 had issue:
1. John, born Tombreck, of whom presently.
2. James, baptised 12.12.1798, who was known as "Lang James" He was a gamekeeper at Abergeldie, and died at Inverness, 19.8.1845. James married 17.3.1829, Mary McHardy, and by her who died 25.11.1856, aged 52, had issue:
(1) Charles, born Ballater, baptised 9.6.1829, was educated at Marischal College Aberdeen, 1844 50, and graduated in medicine. He went to Pernambuco, Brazil, and later to Natal, South Africa. Dr Charles died at Pietemaritzburg. He was four times
wed. His first wife was Bertha, daughter of Michael FrancIs Gordon XV of Abergeldie, and Caroline Swete. They had issue:
(1a) Margaret Alice.
(1b) Bertha.

Dr Gordon married second, Pernambuco, Brazil. 9.8.1859, Francis Ann Austin, with issue:
(1c) Charles, an engineer.
(14) Mary, born Ballater, 28.7.1863, who m. J.B. Taylor, Transvaal.
He married third, Mrs Martha Cordon, without issue, and fourth, Elizabeth Harman, with further issue:
(1e) Arthur.
(1f) William.
(2) William Skene, born 7.3.1831, drowned in the Dee at Ballater, aged 3.
(3) Mary, born 11.7.1832, died in infancy.
(4) Mary, born Ballater, 14.10.1833, who died 25.5.1856.
(5) Elizabeth, born ca.1835, who married 6.5.1861, Robert Mennie, MD.CM, 31 Charlotte Street, Aberdeen, son of Alexander Mennie, coastguard officer and Agnes Forrest. He was born Winchelsea, Sussex. 4.6.1835, and died at Belhelvie, 4.10.1875. Elizabeth died at Aberderen, 1.2.1913. Among their children was Harvey Mennie, 1871 1922, architect in Aberdeen.
(6) James, born Ballater, 2.4.1836, died in Infancy.
(7)James, born Ballater, 30.10.1837, who emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where he was a Post Office employee.
(8) Arthur, born Ballater, 25.12.1839, sometime in the Army, who  emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, before 1910.
(9) Margaret, born Ballater, 20.3.1842, sometime in Natal.
(10)Peter, born Ballater, 17.8.1844.
3. Francis, born Tombreck, baptised 11.2.1801, was accidentally killed at Kirklisiton, West Lothian, and was buried there.
4. Donald, born 2.7.1803, who married Jean Symon, and moved to Angus.
5. Helen. born 1805, who married 5.7.1832, John Smith, crofter at Clachenturn, later farmer at Haddo, Auchenblae. He died 22.8.1861, aged 67. Helen bore him children and died 12.3.1864.
6. Rachel, born 1810, who married 1835, George Michie, gamekeeper at Linn of Muick, and had issue. She was widowed before 1851.
7. Peter, born 1812, cattle dealer and farmer at Banchory. He married Christina Brodie, and died 19.4.1894, leaving issue.
8. Charles, born 1814, crofter and sawyer at Khantore, who died unmarried and testate, 11.2.1904.

(VI) JOHN GORDON, baptised 21.7.1797, was a gamekeeper at. Linn of Muick.  He married Margaret, daughter of John Bowman, Clifton, Braemar, and Margaret McHardy. She died 3.6.1810, aged 80. By his latter will dated 17.2.1888, John left his son his house and household effects, and his daughter the interest of �300. The children were:
1. Margaret, baptised 2.9.1844. She died at Tynabailh, Crathie, 28.6.1932.
2. James Cameron, of whom presently.

(VII) JAMES CAMERON GORDON, baptised 12.9.1845, who resided at Clifton,  Braemar. He was a beneficiary under the will of his uncle, Charles Gordon in Khantore, in 1904. James, who was a millwright, died unmarried at Craignordie, Crathie, 14.9.1924.
