History
Well Jerry and I became friends during our teenage years. I don't remember exactly how it all got started but my earliest memories of us hanging out are of us playing basketball with Al, and also a fishing trip we took to Greens Lake.
Jerry was my neighbour for a long time. He used to live next door, and then in an apartment which is in the house behind ours. With him always so close, it was easy for us to hang out.
Over the years, we've had a lot of fun. For a while, Jerry, Al and I were inseperable. We'd get together everyday to play a sport (basketball, baseball, hockey). As time went, Jerry and I started jamming together, learning to play Collective Soul songs and many others on guitar. We'd take turns playing lead and rhythms that way we'd both get our chance to play the cool solos.
Then one day, he started going out with this great girl named Michelle. Don't insult her, you'll get punched! And she's quite good at it too. **It's all in good fun** She's fun and really makes Jerry happy. I got to know her pretty well a few summers ago when she'd invite me to her camp. Jerry, Michelle and I, along with a few others had a pretty cool summer that year going up there quite a few times.
For a while, the 3 of us would hang out quite often. We'd play cards, go to timmies, watch t.v., sit and talk... These days, it's a bit harder to find the time, and I know I should just make the time. Hopefully, if I can ever get settled into my own place, things will change. I think anyone at this age can see how hard it is to keep friendships going. Everyone is busy with their significant other, or working... it's not like high school or college where you're home every day after school.
Well, nowadays, Jerry and Michelle are married. They tied the knot on April 30th, 2005. I stood in their wedding and I was happy they asked me to be there. It was a blast. We had a great time the night before and the day of the wedding. I didn't get a chance to make a speech but if I would of, it would of went a little something like this.
Jerry and Michelle, the couple that has found what we should all look for. I look at them and I see 2 people who love each other, care for each other and stand by each other. There's no lack of faithfulness, and no lack of attention between the two. I have to admit that when I started seeing less of my friend, I was a little disappointed that the good times we shared everyday had to come to an end. But looking at them today, I don't think I lost a friend. Not only did I gain one, I also gained an understanding about how a relationship should be. You look at the world today and you see violence, cheating, couples ignoring each other and not spending the time they should together. I look at them and I pray that I'll one day find that happiness. I count them lucky because they found at an early age, what some of us will not find for years. To the couple I admire the most, I wish you two all the love and happiness you both so much deserve.
Why He's a Good Friend
Jerry is a good friend, because he's always shown me he's a good guy. When we were young, and didn't hang out together, I thought he was a little badass. **hehe** But as time went, I really notice a great person. Always ready to help out, always there for anyone. He's more than an A+ friend.
Being able to joke around with him has always been fun. No matter what the joke was about, he's always been a good sport about it. These days, bashing him backfires, he usually gets the last insult in. What a jerk! **LOL**
Jerry is a good friend because I know I can always count on him. We get along great no matter what we do. He's just one of those guys who will never piss you off. I am very thankful for this friendship we have. Everything's been great so far!
Thanks for everything buddy!
