The GHC Awards
GHC AWARDS 2008 Welcome to the 2008 GHC Awards! Unlike last year, I am getting these to you in a rather timely fashion...so score one for me! It was an interesting year awards wise...a lot of people couldn't make up their minds leading to some ties and VERY close votes! Most winners only came a head of their competition by a point or two! This year we are retiring the BEST WRITING CHEMISTRY award. I think the game is full of wonderful writers and that everyone does an excellent job but very few get recognized! So here is to all the writers! Alright! Let's get started! BEST ADULT FEMALE
FIRST PLACE - Marisol Vargos (played by Mandy). The very conflicted Mrs. Vargos takes first place this year. Pregnant with Devin's baby and still married to mob boss Carlos, Marisol realized that she was straddling the line of two very different life styles and she would have to make a choice. The closer she came to giving birth the more she realized that the life she had married into was not the life for her! Can she make that clean break she needs?
SECOND PLACE - Alexis Davis (played by Xavion). Alexis has had a hell of a year! She is gearing up for the fight of her life against the father of Kristina. Determined not to let her daughter spend any time in Sonny's world, Alexis has agonized over the what ifs. Add to that the fact that her husband hasn't exactly been faithful and that her not so dead sister is waiting in the wings to exact what she believes is revenge on Alexis, this poor attorney has a while to go before she is completely happy again!
THIRD PLACE -Skye Quartermaine (played by Lizzy). Skye is the other woman in Devin's life and this year she finally got her man! Well, Devin chose her but she definitely mulled over whether or not she wanted him back in her life. Skye also dealt with the mysterious disappearance of her daughter who thankfully returned home...leading to the burning question of who took Kasey! Hopefully now with Devin and Kasey back in her life, she can find some peace. Other initial nominees: Dawn Sinclair, Carly Corinthos, Kate Howard BEST ADULT MALE
FIRST PLACE - Jason Morgan (played by Xavion). For the second year in row, Jason tops the list. It's not hard to see why - he has undergone some serious issues...and it is now like two men are living in his body. With the return of the memories of Jason Quartermaine, Jason is struggling to figure out who he is and what he wants. And one way that has manifested itself is with a connection to Elizabeth Webber despite being married to Sam! Can Jason figure it out?
SECOND PLACE - Luis Alcazar (played by Mandy). Much like last year, Luis slips into the runner up position. He has shown that he is very much a family man this year - finally making peace with Sage when both their lives were on the line during the virus. He also welcomed younger sister Catalina. As for this love life - Luis finally slept with Dawn Sinclair, and continues to sleep with Kristina Cassadine. One of these days, he is gonna have to make a choice!
THIRD PLACE - Carlos Vargos (played by Chris). This is Carlos' first appearance and he has worked hard to make it here! He continued to live the life of a mob king even though his queen was slipping away from him. He poured his heart out to Marisol, admitting that he still loved her and she turned him away. Carlos has since devoted himself to his children, and brought his daughter, Calista to town to meet the rest of her family. Other initial nominees: Devin Ross, Ric Lansing BEST YOUNGER FEMALE
FIRST PLACE - Sage Alcazar (played by Mandy). This year Sage caught readers' attention by denying what she clearly wanted - Talon Spencer. She was so wrapped up in the idea that she could get hurt again that she refused to be with him. However, she did admit to him that she still loved him...before running away in tears!
SECOND PLACE - Elizabeth Webber (played by Elyse). Elizabeth's storyline really ramped up this year when she was pushed into the sphere of Jason again. After his operation, she was his listening ear while he talked about how he couldn't deal with the dualing personalities. When he was injured, she was the one he came to for help. The two became even closer as she tended to his wounds and she was placed in danger because of their connection. TIE
SECOND PLACE - Jessica Buchanan (played by Xavion). Jessica came to Port Charles battling a personal demon...which took the form of a dual personality named Tess. Tess was definitely the opposite of sweet Jessica. Tess didn't have a problem bedding married Ric Lansing, but poor Jessica was shocked in the morning!
THIRD PLACE - Gia Campbell (played by Mandy). The loss of baby Noah continued to play havoc on Gia's relationship with Steven. Gia found herself turning to an old friend - Nikolas. It became obvious that Nikolas was falling for her again, and she found herself confused over her feelings. In the end, when Nikolas asked for one night with her, she ran from the room and into the arms of Steven...but was it out of love or fear of taking that final plunge with Nikolas? Other initial nominees: Sam Morgan, Jenna Drake Best Younger Male
FIRST PLACE - Talon Spencer (played by Chris). Talon had quite a year! After recovering from brain surgery to finally shake off the control of Helena, Talon found himself painfully alone. He knew that he would always love Sage and prayed one day that she could find her way back to him. Although he didn't exactly what he wanted that night in the rain, he realized that Sage still loved him and it only pushed him on.
SECOND PLACE - Nikolas Cassadine (played by Chris). Nikolas finds himself in the same position he did last year. This year however, Nikolas has been living the life as a single man - the rift between he and Emily only grew upon realization that she was now with Connor Bishop, the man who nearly destroyed his life. He turned to Gia, and soon found himself in familiar territory. He knew that she had moved on with Steven but that didn't stop him from hoping that somewhere inside of her feelings for him still existed.
THIRD PLACE - Damian Spinelli (played by Bobby). Spinelli is a newcomer to Port Charles and is a likeable fellow! He takes care of Kelly's and is often found there. He has a great listening ear - something Mia Nelson has come to rely on. Not only that but he gave Connor Bishop a job knowing his past! Talk about a nice guy! Other initial nominees: Patrick Drake, Colin Scorpio, Diego Alcazar BEST TEEN FEMALE
FIRST PLACE - Melody Sutton (played by Kriss). Once again, Melody tops the list. This year Melody was on a quest to find out about her father. This put Holly into a mad panic and lead to her hiring James Craig to pretend to be Melody's father! Melody has taken tentative steps to get to know her "father" and doesn't realize the trouble she is in. Not only is the life her mother has spun a complete lie but having a rogue WSB agent pretending to be your father can't be a good thing!
SECOND PLACE - Chloe Roberts (played by Connie). Carly and Jax's daughter comes in second...and two is a great number for this strong willed girl! Why? Well she has two suitors - Andy Morgan, and Milo Giambetti! Too bad her mother is against her and Milo spending anytime together. This lead to a vicious fight between mother and daughter in which Chloe pointed out the hypocracy of Carly's argument against dating Milo. Afterwards, Chloe moved out determined to find out if Milo was the one for her!
THIRD PLACE - Starr Manning (played by Jen). The daughter of Todd Manning and Blair Crammer hit Port Charles this year! Caught in a fight between her parents, it was obvious that Starr resented her mother for keeping her from her father. She was happy to be reunited with Todd and is settling into her new home! Other initial nominees: Christine Collins, Hayden Barrington BEST TEEN MALE
FIRST PLACE - Michael Corinthos III (played by Jen). Michael realized this year that he would like to get to know his Quartermaine connections despite the fact that AJ had once kidnapped him. He also took a shining to Melody. With all that goes on in his parents' life can he ever really have a relationship?
SECOND PLACE - Andy Morgan (played by Bobby ). Poor Andy - the other man in Chloe's life and the one that she didn't chose...he started out as a confidant to her - one that she could talk freely about her rape with. But Andy would lose out to Milo Gambetti for her affection...here's hoping that someone comes along for Andy!
THIRD PLACE - Charlie Webber (played by Bobby). The youngest of the Webber clan, Charlie is the only one not to choose medicine as a profession. Instead he has chosen music and intends to pursue it. With his family constantly in upheaval with his father's appearance and disappearance, his mother's move to Port Charles and his sisters at odds with each other, it's no wonder that Charlie chooses to spend his time with his music! Other initial nominees: Cole Thornhart BEST ORIGINAL FEMALE
FIRST PLACE - Catalina Alcazar (played by Kristi). Debuting in early 2008, Catalina soon left her mark! She sauntered into her brother's wedding reception and quickly turned her nose up at the bride because of her connection to Alexis Davis. She was welcomed with open arms by other brother Luis and has shown that you don't mess with the Alcazars...and if you do, don't expect forgiveness from her!
SECOND PLACE - Eden Alcazar (played by Mandy). Eden finally got what she wanted this year - after nearly dying! Struck down with the virus, Eden discovered that she was pregnant! After some tense moments, Eden pulled through. She and Lorenzo immediately married and celebrated their life together by throwing a party for all their friends and family. It was then that she met her sister-in-law for the first time and discovered that her family ties meant that she was not good enough for Lorenzo in Catalina's eyes!
THIRD PLACE - Marisol Vargos (played by Mandy). Marisol makes another appearance to round out the list. Marisol has proven this year that she is a mother bear when it comes to her children and squared off with Devin's family over baby Nate's safety. She made it quite clear that they were not going to take her son from her! Other initial nominees: Fancy Monroe, Gabriella Giovanni BEST ORIGINAL MALE
FIRST PLACE -Gustavo Giovanni (played by Xavion). This character caught on fast! He came in the spring and quickly made a name for himself by committing such acts as nearly killing a bird with his bare hands in front of Sage Alcazar. He made it clear that he wanted Port Charles and that there would be hell to pay if he didn't get what he wanted. Coming with him are his two children, Gianni and Gabriella - who clearly do not share their father's passion for death.
SECOND PLACE - Daniel Samsonov (played by Mandy). Like father like son - Daniel is clearly the offspring of Cesar Faison. He came to town to clean up his father's mess - and did so by killing Amaya Grey. Although he has some hatred for his father, he is loyal to him and has decided that Colin should play for his part in Cesar's downfall. And like his father, Daniel has an elaborate plan that will no doubt hurt Colin deeply.
THIRD PLACE - Talon Spencer (played by Chris). Talon makes the list again...and given his year it's easy to see why! He and Sage are a popular couple amongst GHC readers and to have them separated lead to some touching scenes. Although Mia Nelson was interested, Talon's heart clearly belonged to Sage. Other initial nominees: Devin Ross, Remy LeBeaux BEST NEWCOMMER
FIRST PLACE - Catalina Alcazar (played by Kristi). Coming in at the top spot again is Ms. Alcazar and her razor sharp tongue which proved to be a favorite amongst readers. She clearly has it in for Alexis Davis...and her husband Ric Lansing, whom Catalina knew when he worked for her brother.
SECOND PLACE - Gustavo Giovanni (played by Xavion). Coming in the runner up spot is the loony Gustavo. He seems to get joy out of scaring others half to death. He also seems to want to manage his children's lives and both seem to live in fear of what he might do next...soon all of Port Charles will be living the same way.
THIRD PLACE - Johnny Zacchara (played by Xavion). Another newcomer to the mob scene, Johnny and his sister arrived in Port Charles to observe what was going on between the Giovanni family and the rest of the mob factions in the town. He met Gabriella Giovanni quite by accident and doesn't know that she is the enemies' daughter. He seems to be reluctant leader but is helped by his sister, Claudia. Other initial nominees: Calista Vargos, Gabriella Giovanni BEST VILLAIN
FIRST PLACE - Gustavo Giovanni (played by Xavion). Although most of evil deeds committed since arriving in Port Charles didn't make the cut for this years voting period, readers placed him at the top of the poll...no doubt urged on by the anticipation for what was to come!
SECOND PLACE - Cesar Faison (played by Mandy). As the mastermind behind the virus that nearly killed a good number of Port Charles' citizens, Faison cemented his villainy. He however is a fan of old fashioned plans which no doubt lead to his downfall and eventual lapse into a coma...but you just know even as he lies there his mind is working on yet another way to ruin the lives of those he hates!
THIRD PLACE - Helena Cassadine (played by Jen). Helena has taken back a spot on the best villain's list by reminding everyone that she is the Queen of manipulation. She continues to poke her nose in her grandson's life despite his every effort to push him out. It was revealed that she was the one behind Kristina's new personality and it appears as if she has succeeded in turning the sisters against one another. Other initial nominees: Zane Fox, Daniel Samsonov BEST RIVALRY
FIRST PLACE - Gustavo Giovanni vs. The Port Charles Mob (played by Xavion, Mandy, Heather, Jen, and Chris). Gustavo wants control of Port Charles...too bad there are three families standing in his way. The Vargos, Alcazar and Corinthos factions have managed to get along as best they could...they now find themselves working together to take down a dangerous enemy...one who doesn't take no for an answer.
SECOND PLACE - Ric Lansing vs. Catalina Alcazar (played by Mandy and Kristi). It was pretty clear when Catalina Alcazar showed up in Port Charles that she and Ric Lansing had a past...and it wasn't pretty. The two sparred at every moment with Ric nearly physically harming Catalina. What happened between these two? I guess readers will have to wait to find out all the dirty details.
THIRD PLACE - Eden Alcazar vs. Hera Jackson (played by Chris and Mandy). Why does Hera hate Eden so much? There is an obvious reason but Eden has yet to discover it. All she knows is that Hera took advantage of her loan status to secure herself 50% of the club that Eden built up...now she can't get rid of her! Other initial nominees: Sonny Corinthos vs. Alexis Davis, Marisol Vargos vs. Carly Corinthos BEST FRIENDSHIP
FIRST PLACE - Brenda Barrett & Lois Cerullo (played by Elyse and Jen). Brenda and Lois' friendship is over a decade old. They have been friends through some of their lowest moments as well as their happiest moments. Right now, Lois is helping Brenda prepare for a wedding to Justus Ward.

SECOND PLACE - Mia Nelson & Damian Spinelli (played by Xavion and Bobby) Although they look like an unlikely pair - Damian and Mia have become fast friends. They share a connection and talk openly with one another. Mia seems to come to Spinelli when she needs to bounce ideas and he has even helped her babysit!

Although these two only share the same mother they have always been close and over the past year their bond has been strengthened as Sage dealt with the aftermath of her breakup. Other initial nominees: Tasha Campbell & Gia Campbell BEST LOVE TRIANGLE
FIRST PLACE - Sam Morgan/Jason Morgan/Elizabeth Webber (played by Mandy, Xavion and Elyse). Jason and Sam were happily married and raising their daughter when Jason fell sick. The result - he regained his memories of Jason Quartermaine. He now had to try and deal with the conflicting emotions...and Elizabeth Webber was there to help. As Sam and Jason grew apart, Jason and Liz grew closer!
SECOND PLACE - Nikolas Cassadine/Gia Campbell/Steven Webber (played by Chris, Mandy and Lizzy). Gia is at the center of this triangle torn between the man she has grown to depend on and her first love. She and Steven are trying to move past the loss of their son and Nikolas has made it clear he wants Gia back...
THIRD PLACE - Skye Quartermaine/Devin Ross/Marisol Vargos (played by Lizzy, Xavion and Mandy). Devin loves Skye. Devin is having a child with Marisol. Skye is afraid to let Devin back in her life...this triangle seems to be winding down as Devin realized that he loves Skye and is doing his best to win her back! Other initial nominees: Kristina Cassadine/Luis Alcazar/Dawn Sinclair, Maxie Jones/Palmer Hellfex/Georgie Jones BEST COUPLE
FIRST PLACE - Lorenzo & Eden Alcazar (played by Jen and Mandy). This is Lorenzo and Eden's first appearance and they have climbed to the top! This year, Eden and Lorenzo offered a bit of romance in the darkness as they realized they were about to be parents and cemented their relationship by getting married!
SECOND PLACE - Kyan Thomas & Wade Coleman (played by Xavion and Chris). Kyan and Wade are a stormy pair with a great history in GHC. This year after all surviving a lot of drama, they went on a vacation...and Wade proposed. He was turned down leading to another round of angst for the pair!
THIRD PLACE - Milo Giambetti & Chloe Roberts (played by Jen and Connie) Young forbidden love...Chloe fell for her bodyguard despite her mother's misgivings. Chloe clearly didn't care for Carly's disapproval and made it known that she was going to date Milo with or without her permission. Other initial nominees: Jason & Sam Morgan, Talon Spencer & Sage Alcazar, Diego Alcazar & Penny Mitchell BEST WRITING CHEMISTRY (Officially retiring)
FIRST PLACE - Xavion and Mandy. Over the past year these two have worked hard at conflicting couples...from Devin/Marisol to Ric/Alexis...they don't seem to know how to do happy ever after. But in all that angst, there are some great moments such as Marisol and Devin realizing that even though they are apart they can raise Nate together....and lets not forget how hot Kristina and Luis can be! What else will they come up with?
SECOND PLACE - Jen and Mandy. Jen and Mandy have a long history of writing together. Some of their storylines this year include a wedding and a pregnancy for Lorenzo and Eden, Zoey gaining custody of her daughter Hayden, and Caleb's growing attraction for Alison despite his commitment to his marriage to Tia.
