Module Eleven
"Students are better able to retain learning experiences that involve sounds, pictures and     interactive opportunities. ...People retain about 10 percent of what they read, half of what  they see and fully 90 per cent of information that is gleaned through interactive
participation. You can employ people to do all that complicated interactive stuff, but it's     much cleaner and cheaper to let technology do it for you."  Brends Pfaus ( teacher,           specialist in technology-assisted learning, Ottawa.)
Overview
Welcome to Mod eleven
You now have at least two pages on your website, and probably some pretty interesting graphics are finding their way there also.  It is so easy and fun to edit your site now that you are becoming accustomed to the process.

In this mod we are going to add another page or pages in the form of our WebQuest. I want to be clear that I am not grading the content or length of your Quest, I just want you to be able to construct the bare bones of it, and then you can enhance it with more content and links when you are ready.

You have 2 choices as to how to construct your WebQuest:
    1.  Construct it all on
one page,(click on link to view example) typing the required 5 parts all on one page . Directions are in first paragraph at link HERE

or 2.  Construct it as a
6 page site; (click on link to view example)  this is not as hard as it sounds, the first page would be called "WebQuest" and have 5 words on it (Introduction, Task, Process, Evaluation and Conclusion) and then we would create a short page called Introduction and link it to the Webquest page, etc. (In webs.com, our pages are titled for us, so this makes using this example harder, if you want to spread a webquest over 6 pages, they will be called, ie. history, mission, etc. just adapt as best you can if you choose this option.)
Just put a few sentences under each heading, describing your webquest, with at least 1 or 2 links (for the entire Quest.)

Refer back to
Mod 5 for directions on the 5 required parts of a webquest.  Print them out if you need them and use them to Briefly construct a skeletal outline of one.

To see an outstanding webquests made by a student taking this course go to:

(and no, I don't expect everyone's to be this detailed; just wanted to share .)

Surfing
You have already been given links to backgrounds, pictures, buttons, sounds and animations.

go back and explore some of the ones you didn't try the first time.
Assignment
Construct a basic WebQuest.  Do not worry about content, it is the construction process that we are most interested in; a few sentences under each heading will suffice.

E-mail me a short message telling me that your WebQuest is on your website, type "mod 11-comp.int.-your name"  in the Subject line.

Please retype the URL of your website in your e-mail

Optional: check out some classmates sites and quests;post a reply to them
Back to homepage
There is a WebQuest template-Advanced Version on the homepage of this class(or use link here.) This is for your future reference and can be used if and when you are ready for a complex and more detailed WebQuest.  This is difficult and directed at those very comfortable with website construction. If you use it, click on the Printable Directions linked here and found at the top of the Introduction page and follow these.  DO NOT USE THIS FOR THIS WORKSHOP.
If you already have a one page webquest, make a five page one.  If you already have a five page webquest, add content to each page, add an "add-on" to each page; add at least 3 hyperlinks to the "Process" page; reply to a classmate's website.
