Professional Experience
             
2006-current, San Buenaventura University, Cali, Colombia                                                      Foreign Language Department Staff Teachers, Foreign Language Department

Director of the Foreign Language Department--responsible for the budget, personnel, curriculum and students of a department with
25 teachers who teach 80 English classes to over 2,000 students of 13 different academic programs.  The curricula include ESP, EAP, EFL and Content Based components. 
During my tenure, the following highlighted the department's growth: new curriculum components, especially using technology; a post graduate certificate program for K-12 English teachers; a structured professional development program to train teachers in CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning); a remedial program for students who continually fail English; University-wide activities and an emphasis on Student Friendly English.
Instructor, Phonetics for students of the PreSchool Education Program.  In-class and virtual, through the Moodle platform.

Accomplishments included increased student participation in and responsibility for democratic processes; support for inter-grade and interschool teacher led projects; focus on academic excellence; and an initiative for a mentoring program, with all high school teachers leading a small group of students in interrelational activities. 1994-2003 College Placement Counselor, AP Coordinator
The college placement orientation program  I developed for grades 9-12 focused on 11th grade workshops and a one-week internship, followed in 12th grade by individual counseling for the admission process.  During my nine years as counselor at this college prep school, applications and acceptances to US institutions increased from 10% to over 50%, and top students received generous scholarships.
