ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Ben O'Donnell and I have been interested in the the arts for as long as I can remember. It all started as a young child when my parents bought me my first coloring book. I would spend hours picking through colors and fighting to keep them within the lines. As my interests, as well as talents grew, my parents then began buying me "How To Books" such as "How To Draw" Cartoons, Animals, People etc. This is where my basic skills were learned.

As the years passed, I became more and more interested in my talent for art. At age ten I was creating wonderful drawings, far exceeding my age level. The teachers in school began noticing my talents and, in return, gave me encouragement to persue my passion. Being so young I didn't realize how important this advice was, therfore I never advanced my artistic schooling throughout middle and high school. I soon was a teenager and my artmaking days were slowing down due to social groups and other endevors in my life. Occasionally, I was drawing rock posters to stick on the walls of my room but not churning out the constant flow of work I had in the past.

As my teenage and highschool years passed, it seemed as if I would never create art work again. My future was being questioned and college was on the horizon. Figuring out what I was going to major in was a decision greatly influenced by my mother, who is also very talented in the field of art and where I credit most of my talents originating. After reviewing my choices, I decided to register for an applied associates degree in Visual Communication at Harford Community College. This degree focuses on fine arts and digital media such as web & graphic design.

This brings me to the current point in my life where I am almost finished my degree and will be searching for a job, as well as possibly continuing my education. In conjuction with schooling, I have started my sculpture career with a few pieces you will see here. Most of my work is designed in wood and made to hang on a wall.
