Section 1.3: Thoughts on time management and classes

Utena!  I don't ever seem to have enough hours in the day!

Join the crowd Kero!  I can remember when I was a little kid complaining to my mother that time went too slow, and I was bored.  Where in the world did those days go?  Too bad there hadn't been some sort of time saving clause where you could gather up all your unused time as a child to use when you're an adult.  You know, kind of like roll-over minutes on your cellphone?  But, there's not, so we're forced to learn a new skill - the skill of time management.

If you're thinking that I might be the worst person in the world to talk about time management, you'd be right.  I'm too easy-going to keep a day planner since I never know what I'm doing until I'm actually doing it.  However, going to college kind of forced me to incorporate some sort of time management schedule or else I would never go to class or get any of my homework done.  So, what I'm going to focus on in this page, is some tips I've used in order to manage my classes and balance my homework without stressing out so bad I begin to see cows dressed in clown costumes climbing up the walls.

  • Size up your classes:  Obviously you're probably going to have to spend more time on a Calculus III class than Music Appreciation.  This is another one of the problems that I have with the standard two hours for every one hour of class technique.  Some classes simply don't need that time while others might need more.

  • Check your syllabus:  A lot of times teachers will place the dates of exams and sometimes the due dates of exams on the syllabus.  This can be quite helpful
