Episode 35: Blind Alley
Guest Review By: Joe

Introducing: --

The Gist of It: In Area 51 two Scientists approach Mystique who is held down to a bed by straps. One scientist complains they can't examine her like that, the other argues that it's how they want her, she's tricky and he doesn't know how they ever captured her - which triggers Mystique having a flashback of Scott locking her in. The female scientist starts to undo her latch but the male one tells her he'll go get a pole, for safety of course. On the way back from getting the pole the female scientist passes him saying she had to sedate Mystique because she was moving around to much. The male looks into the room and sees and arm slip off the now reclined table Mystique was sitting on, it's the same color as the female scientist's skin. An announcment goes out to restrain Dr. _____ (the female scientist) immediately saying she's "the mutant". She's passing a soldier who goes to get her but she kicks him into a hall and transforms into him, then misleads another soldier to check a different area. The soldier makes an announcement that she's impersonating him now but it's already too late, she's outside and transforms into a raven and flys away with a pack of them.

At the X-Mansion (which is pretty much completely rebuilt, they're just decorating and painting), Amara is melting a bunch of rocks to form a path outside. Jamie is painting but splits into about 6 to speed the job up. Rogue is setting up a painting in the living room when Spyke comes charging in (riding a carpet like a skateboard), slips and shoots 3 groups of spikes - 1 go to Rogue's left, 1 goes to Rogue's right and she catches the last 2 with her hands. Spikes are all over the room and this pisses her off of course, all the work gone to waste so she chases him off.

Bobby is setting up the main computer system with Beast and doing all the work, Beast isn't grasping it well and Bobby gets annoyed that it's simple - he's only setting up the lights and tells Beast to go program a VCR or something. At that moment, Bobby punches in another command which accidently shuts off all the lights in the institute. Jean floats a satalite to a shirtless Scott and Wolverine on the roof of the mansion. Kitty also brings them a cable wire by floating it up through the roof.

Sam is flying around with his powers knocking holes in the ground, and Sunspot is planting big trees in them. Back on the roof Scott is asking Logan advice about how he's supposed to know if a girl likes him, Logan is semi-listening and then tells Scott that he wants the sattelite done today, and if Scott won't tell her he (Logan) will. Scott replies he'll tell Jean. When it's set up a raven flys by next to Scott's face.

Jean is floating the statue in front back to it's original spot, but her attention is divided to checking out shirtless Scott. Storm has to fly out of the way to avoid it, and when it's set up she fills it with water, Jean hits the switch to turn it on. Storm talks to Jean a little bit about how close her and Scott have grown, how he helped her when she lost control and they have some sort of bond. Storm sort of hints Jean should tell him how she feels.

In the hallway Scott and Jean bump into each other and Jean says she has something to tell him, he has something to tell her too. They tell each other to go first when Kurt pops in with the phone, it's Alex. Alex tells Scott he's stranded in Mexico and needs a lift back, his wallet was stolen and he can't reach his foster parents. Scott tells Jean he has to go and he'll tell her what he wanted to when he gets back.

A plane flys into the airport and Scott meets up with Alex, who is happy to see him. They greet each other and hug - more of the bro love thing. Scott says he'll get Alex something to eat. As they're walking through the hall Alex pushes Scott into an area, then transforms into Mystique and says "payback time!", then throws a smoke grenade which knocks Scott unconcience.

Scott wakes up and starts walking through the desert calling out for anyone who can hear him. He opens his eyes for a breif moment to spot his surroundings when no one replies. Night falls, he's been walking for hours and opens his eyes again to spot someone. A bunch of wolves surround/attack him, Jean who is napping on the couch spots this event going on in her mind and wakes up yelling. The Professor comes in and tells her it was a just a bad dream, it's impossible for even him to find Scott at that distance. The wolves are still attacking Scott, who's using his optic blasts to defend himself. 2 guys at a construction site spot this going on, and get in their jeep to check it out. He gets near the edge of a cliff (he isn't aware of it) and a wolf starts charging at him, he backs off the cliff and falls down about 30 feet. When the wolves are going in for the kill, the guys at the construction site arrive in their Jeep and rescue him.

Jean calls Alex asking if Scott's ok, Alex hasn't heard from Scott and Jean realizes something is wrong.

In a Mexico hospital a Doctor approaches Scott to check for a concussion, Scott wields him off but the Doctor has two nurses restrain him. When the Doctor opens his eye the roof of the hospital is blown off, Scott runs out.

In a dark alley Scott is walking around blindly, calling for anyone who will help him. He finds a phone using his hands, but then finds out the cord isn't attached to it.

The X-Jet flys to an alley and lands, Professor X tells Jean, Storm and Logan that he's in a 5 mile radius. They all split up.

3 men approach Scott mad that he blew the roof off their hospital. They ask who's going to pay for it, Scott claims that if they help him call his friend's he'll pay for it. They don't believe him and attack. 2 of them grab him and throw him about 10 feet into a couple of trash cans, Scott says he doesn't want to hurt them but one guy replies that "that's what makes you different from us". One approaches Scott, but Scott counters by pinning him against a wall. Scott opens his eyes and misses his head by about 6 inches. The other two run off and Scott asks if the guy who's pinned against the wall is going to leave him alone now. The guy replies, "bravo" and turns into our old friend Mystique. Mystique tells Scott the fun has just begun, and when she's about to throw another smoke grenade Scott knocks it from her hand to the floor. They talk a little trash and then Scott tries to blast her, which misses and Mystique jump-kicks him about 10 feet into a warehouse. Jean gets a psychic message of this going on then runs off to help Scott. In the warehouse Scott tries to optic blast her but she dodges and he hits a car, which flys on top of another one and explodes, he says "oh no". Mystique laughs and tells him he should keep his eyes closed. Mystique climbes up about 20 feet and tries to jump on Scott, but she misses. He throws fists at her but she easily knocks him back. As she goes in to attack again he shoots the ground under her, which knocks both of them down into the basement. They fistfight a little more and Mystique knocks him back again. In a lucky optical blast shot Scott knocks the lights out making it completely dark. He's running around taunting her with taps on the shoulder, saying "what's the matter, can't see?". Scott knocks her down but she quickly recovers. She attacks from behind but Scott reverses it, using his legs to propell her back into some boxes.

Jean walks down the stairs of the warehouse calling for Scott, he warns her that Mystique is down there. Jean replies that she saw Mystique run out and Cerebro located Scott. Scott gets suspicious and asks "it spotted me right to this warehouse?", Jean goes along and says "yeah!". As she gets closer she picks up a spear weapon and right when she's about to attack he opens his eyes and blasts her back, she then turns into a pissed off Mystique. Mystique runs and pounces at him but is stopped midair, about an inch away from Scott by Telekinesis. Jean floats through the hole in the ground and throws Mystique into a pillar. Mystique says "how sweet, the girlfriend to the rescue". Jean replies "you got that right lady" and as Mystique tries to jump her, Jean telekinetically threw her into a wall, then pinned her to it. The walls starts to crumble and Jean lets out another Telekinetic blast, which throws Mystique completely through it. Mystique goes off and Jean goes to Scott. He asks if it's really her, she just holds him close and tells him that it's ok, Mystique is gone. She holds him really close as he smiles, he says that he just wish he could open his eyes to see her face.

You hear Jean saying "ok, you can open your eyes now". You see from Scott's point of view Jean's face. They're in the X-Jet close and Jean asks "is that better?" Scott replies it couldn't get any better, he snuggles up close to her as they hold hands. Jean kisses him on the cheek and they rub up even closer to each other. Logan and Ororo are both smiling, Logan says it's about time, the episode ends with a closeup of the Professor smiling.
