Episode 32: The Stuff of Heroes
Guest Review By: Joe

Introducing: No one

The Gist of It: The episode opens in an aftermath scene of the last one, the government forces are searching for known signs of mutants, they're at the ruins of the X-Mansion and the Brotherhood house (where a guy in a suit that protects him from harmful chemicals is lifting Blob's boxers with a stick). There's some from dialogue which I think is the president's like this:

"The mutant search continues but they have a hard job cut out for them, for despite the mutants powers most look like normal citizens" (while showing a picture of Scott, Jean Grey, Kurt, Professor X and Rogue on the screen).

They're currently in a minimart where they're shopping for food and drinks. "Normal? Look at me I look fat! Do I look that fat to you?!" says Rogue to Wolverine, he replies for her to stay quite, for they're trying to keep a low profile. At about that time, two guys in army suits walk through the front door. The guys in army suits almost immediately spot Rogue and regognize her, making her run and a fight commense.

The soldier shoots this stun-type weapon at her, it's much like a harpoon but Wolverine tackles her out of the way, making the harpoon hit the Television. Wolverine crouches in front of them bringing his claws out, they back up at first but then one Soldier says to take him down. The Soldier now shoots at wolverine which misses, it hits some soda cans which splash into another Soldiers face, making his aim go way off and shoot the ceiling light - which falls down on him. Wolverine throws one Soldier outside the mart and another one into a display case while Rogue hides the whole time. When the Soldier flys out 10 of his comrads see what's going on, which makes them go inside. They split up and Rogue/Wolverine use whipping cream and newspaper to make them go off balance, Rogue gets Wolverines but and drives it through the front door, Wolverine jumps on back and the chase begins.

A congress meeting is going on in another part of the United States, when Story and Beast are escorted through the front door. The leader asks who they are, when Storm replies they're mutants and the witch hunt will stop immediately.

A train arrives at it's location, but a police officer with a billyclub is waiting there. The conducter opens the door to it and reveals Juggernaut, who seems to be relaxing in the back. The police officer tells him to get out of there, nice and easy but Juggernaut simply takes his time putting his helmet on, then jumps 10 feet in the air destroying half of the cart he was riding in landing right next to the conducter and officer. Suprisingly, he does nothing to them and simply walks away. The officer calls for backup saying they have a mutant on their hands.

Jean approaches Scott telling him Spyke's trying to get his portable TV working, Scott replies he doesn't care because the same thing is on every channel - them. She explains that everyone wants to check on how Beast and Storm are doing but Scott immediatly replies lousy, saying that everyone has already made their mind up about mutants. Jean tells him to stop already, it's not like they didn't expect that kind of reaction and tells him his sulking isn't helping. He complains a little of how they shouldn't be hiding and should be out looking for the professor, and asks why he hasn't made contact with his Telepathy yet. Jean says she's sure the professor is alright, and puts her hand on Scott's shoulder to comfort him. He cheers up and gets a smile, thanking her. Kurt teleports right inbetween them with the portable TV, asking how the reception from there is. Scott replies horrible, just like his timing. Kurt ports out.

He lands on the roof of the cave where everyone else is hiding, where the reception is great on the TV. Spyke tells him to not move a hair, that's as good as it's going to get. Kurt complains that he's trapped there, so Kitty says she'll take care of it and grabs the TV holding it in place. She says Bobby, and he freezes her body in place, then she phases out making an interesting TV holder. Scott and Jean join them. Everyone is trying to watch the TV at the same time, but being the screen is no bigger than 3 inches wide two inches tall they're all struggling to get in the front row, Kurt teleports in front and Kitty phases half of her body through him staying there. Kurt says that she's really invading his personal space . Bobby tells them to step back and uses ice to make an ice screen that magnifies the picture to the size of a large TV so everyone can see.

At the hearing Storm says that mutants have lived along them for years and explains that they're peaceful. The leader replies maybe peaceful, or just buying time - he reveals a photo of the Danger room and accuses them of preparing for war. Scott has a bad look on his face and says "not good".

Wolverine and Rogue are running from choppers with Rogue driving his bike, she's going through the woods and Wolverine gets hit by a branch making him fall off. She returns for him of course, but they lost some distance between the choppers and then.

At the hearing again, Best explains that the Sentinal attacked them and they were just defending themselves. The congress guy then accuses him of building the robot themselves, Storm says that's ridiculous but the head of congress explains his theory - they built it and lost control. Wolverine and Rogue ride through the front of the cave, where Rogue does a skid out stop making Wolverine fly off, he crashes right through Bobby's ice TV (I found this funny ).

Wolverine warns them about military choppers, Rogue says it won't take them long to be found, the choopers show up at that exact moment and Rogue corrects herself saying it didn't take them long. The choppers approach the cave and call for backup. Wolverine smiles and says some line about them having a fight on their hands, Scott stops him saying that any one of them could bring down every chopper, but they're the good guys. Bobby makes an ice barrier at that moment to guard the X-Men from the missles, which works quite well. Wolverine says "are you defying me boy?". More missles come flying and Scott looks at Wolverine saying we're not kids anymore, you trained us and we're good - he blasts every missle out of the sky (all 20 of them with a couple of beams), really good. Wolverine gets mad saying that they're the enemy. Scott replies any one of them could take down the choppers, but they're heros not thugs and "what would the professor have us do?". Wolverine thinks for a second and then says fine, if you won't listen to me you obvious don't need my help. He takes off on motorcycle while the rest of the X-Men rush out of the cave.

About 20 more missles are launched by the helicopter, Spyke intercepts them using his powers and Jean uses telepathy to form a block around them. Inside the helicopter the soldier spots Bobby using ice to take Scott to the helicopter, he says "switch to hydras they're going airborn!". Kitty and Kurt teleport into the helicopter, "Hi, I'm Nightcrawler and this is Shadowcat" *Kitty smiles and waves*. "And this is your weapon system!" *Kitty phases hand into front of chopper disabling electronics*. They teleport to the X-Chopper where Jean uses her TK to bring the helicopters down, then bend the rutters making the helicopters useless. The X-Jet takes off and shows wolverine driving away.

A newscrew is following the wake of destruction when a car flys at them. About 10 cop cars are all toppled over here, the Officer calls for backup and tells them to start with the army.

At the hearing again a little arguing goes on, when some lady approaches the head of congress and whispers something into his ear. "Let's see it then!" replies the head of congress. On the big screen TV there Juggernaut throws a Tank about 20 feet down a dam that lands on an electricity tower and knocks it down, knocking all power out in the city. Back to the hearing the congress guy is stunned by this, "NOT MONSTERS?! Tell that to the 63,000 people living in that valley". The X-Jet approaches and Kurt/Kitty explain that he's loose, and without the professor they cannot stop him.

The city is being evacuated, Juggernaut does a humorous bellyflop onto a power generator, and throws some huge power tool into the dam making a 10x10 foot hole at the top of it, leaking water. Military jets shoot missles at him covering him in rock, but he easily busts out and jumps to the helicopter taking it down with his weight. In the X-Helicopter Jean asks if they're getting involved or not, Scott explains that no matter what they'll just get blamed for it in the end anyway. Juggernaut throws the downed helicopter at the other one, Kurt teleports to save them. The X-Men pile out of the helicopter and harass him a little bit, Kurt teleports around him and Scott knocks him down with an optic blast. Bobby ices the floor making Juggernaut almost slide right off the Dam, he pulls himself up though. When he gets up there, everyone is nowhere to be seen. Spyke reveals himself with shooting a few spikes at Juggy, which grabs his attention making him go to get him. Spyke jumps down off the generator he was standing on with Juggernaut still up there, he shoots some spikes making and explosion that makes Juggernaut fall off. He falls off onto the iced up dam, and Kitty sort of uses him as a surfboard to ride him down, they hit a ridge in the damn and Kitty phases him into it, she unphases and gets on top herself, trapping him in. He starts hitting the ridge making it crack while Kitty more or less taunts him, he grabs her though but she just simply phases through his hand running away. Jean uses TK to hold the water leaking through the dam in place, Bobby freezes it. Kurt teleports around the still trapped Juggy removing 3 latches from his helmet, Juggernaut throws him at Jean and then jumps 40 feet across a gap trying to attack Rogue Kitty and Spyke. Juggernaut says "What are you trying to do, embarass me to death? Give me your best shot" so Scott says that's just what he had in mind and blasts his helmet off. Juggernaut regains balance and approaces Scott trying to grab him, Scott just doges out of the way. Juggernaut says "you can't stop me, I'm raw power!" Scott replies "you want it raw tough guy, then have it raw!" removing his visor and making a HUGE optic blast fly out, blasting Juggernaut 15 feet back and scattering the camera crew. Juggernaut gets up though, and he starts walking through Scott's blast as Scott backs up. When Juggy reaches him he grabs Scott's face stopping the blast. Kurt/Evan/Bobby try to save Scott but Juggernaut easily knocks them away. Kitty phases Rogue through the floor and she jumps onto his back grabbing his face making him go off balance and stumble around. Kurt teleports Scott away and Juggernaut falls down, he quickly gets back up to attack Rogue but she has gained all of his powers, easily blocking his attacks . She picks him up heaving him off the dam, Bobby freezes him midair as he crashes to the bottom. They're trying to find him but Scott says that he's long gone.

Back at the conference the Congress guy has a look on his face like, oh.... You showed me... "What were they trying to do?". Story replies "what they were trained to do, use their powers for good."

Rogue is recovering from getting a peice of Juggernauts mind, Scott and Jean see if she's alright and she says yes, and says "I got a big peice of his mind and..... I know where the professor is!"

At Juggernauts old restraint case, a worker there frees him as Wolverine shows up telling Scott good job. Jean and Scott go to the professor telling him it'll be alright.

The professor makes a speech on TV saying that he clears the X-Men of all wrongdoing, saying that the person who really made the Sentinal has been arrested - showing trask behind bars. He explains that hopefully mutants and humans can live in peace together. During this speech it shows all of the X-Men, even the new recruits at the mansion. It ends the episode with Magneto and crew (everyone but Pyro) watching TV, Magneto gets a mad evil look on his face. - End of Episode.
