Episode 2: The X
Impulse
Introducing: Shadowcat and Avalanche
The Gist of It: (Because I wasn't paying any attention to the scenes with
Sabretooth, Wolverine, Kurt, and Scott, I'm going to omit them from this summary. ^^)
The episode opens with young Kitty Pryde dreaming about... falling off of a building.
When she hits the ground, she wakes up and finds herself in the basement, as she
apparently phased through the floor. She freaks out.
Kitty then goes to school and is shoved into her locker by two eeevil girls by the name of
Riley (DEAR GOD, NO!! NOT FISHBOY! Erm, sorry, wrong series) and... I don't
know. Anyway, she calls for help and pounds against the door ANNNND LANCE!
comes out from the bathroom with a can of spray-paint and starts vandalizing the lockers.
Kitty phases through the door and knocks him down by accident, causing him to somehow
streak his own face with spray-paint. Anyway, he talks to her and demonstrates his
powers to her, which makes her run away to gym class.
Oh yeah, and Professor X and
Jean talk to her parents at some point, but they pretty much won't listen.
Kitty arrives to PE, late, as Lance and his buddies Griff and... un-named guy climb to the
top of the office building and try to find a way to break in and steal some answers. They
(Griff and un-named guy), being slow of mind and quick of temper (erm, excerpt from
something a friend an I wrote), can't think of anything. Lance, meanwhile, is ogling at
Kitty, and thinks up a plan.
After Kitty fails her long-jump, Riley brags about how "real" athletes do things and
prepares to long-jump and show off. Lance, however, interferes by using his wacky
seismic powers and ruins her performance. HAHAHAAA!! Kitty sees him and runs away
to the theatre arts building, where she runs into Jean who gives her the "I know what
you're going through, let me help" speech. Kitty pretty much says "Screw you" and runs
away. Lance tells Jean to stay out of it, and follows Kitty.
Lance meets Kitty at her locker and gives her a pretty sweet talk. It's almost touching.
Awww... Anyway, he offers to help her with her powers if she would meet him at the
office in an hour or something like that. So, she does and he tells her to phase through the
wall and let him in. She does, and then gives him a big ol' hug and seems very happy
about everything. Then... *bum bum bummmm* Lance lets his evil ol' intentions known
(stealing answers and changing grades on the computer) and Kitty tries to leave.
However, he won't let her, and then Jean and Kitty's parents burst onto the scene.
Lance starts shaking things up and a bookshelf lands on Kitty's father. Other stuff falls
too. Oooh. She phases herself out of Lance's grip and he pretty much goes "ARGH!",
makes big things fall, then storms away. Everyone thinks Kitty's dead because a bunch of
ceiling stuff fell on her, but she phases out, then phases everyone out of the building and
joins the X-Men.
Poor Lance watches from a hill or something, then starts away, but meets up with
Mystique, who's already taken the liberty of enrolling him in Bayville High School. She
calls him Avalanche. The end.
Brotherhood Moments: Lance! You get a whole helluvalotta Lance! Lance!
*giggle*
Episode Highlights: Since I'm an extremely insane Lance fan, I would say that the
episode highlights are these: Lance! I love the way he tries to manipulate Kitty... >=D
My Opinion on the Episode: I love this episode, which shouldn't really be a big
surprise, since Lance is my favorite-tied-with-Pietro Brotherhood guy, and Kitty's my
favorite-tied-with-Rogue X-Person (look at me being
politically correct ;P). However, I don't like how in this episode and all the other
recruiting eps, the Brotherhood kid is always dismissed as "not worthy/redeemable" of
joining the X-Men. They never
attempt to recruit the underprivilaged kids, with the exception of Rogue! The one time
they really bother is with Toad, and they attack him anyway, which they didn't do to
anyone else... Okay, the X-Men aren't exactly my favorite
characters in "Evolution", which is kind of odd since it's their show... Anywho, another
little thing about this episode that bugged me was Lance's voice. It sounded so...
goofy/happy/young in this episode, in comparison to other eps, anyway. Oh well. I liked
the Kitty/Lance scenes, as they were very cute. I like the thought of the two together, but
that's never gonna happen anyway, as this is a kids' show and Lance is a villain and villains
are EEEEVIL. ~_~;; Plus, he tried to kill Kitty's parents...
Narration Time!
Brotherhood Rating: On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd have to
give it a 5 because I'M in it and I get to total my school! Ahhahahaha!!
Man, what the hell is up with the title of this episode? Geez, like they don't use the letter
"X" enough as it is! X-Men, X-Jet, Xavier, Strategy X, X Impulse, See Jean Grey Nude
XXX
(okay, okay, so I made that last one up) etc... This episode shoulda been called "Lance
Alvers Rocks Your World" instead! Yeah!
: Well, that's... interesting...
Rosiel: And there you have it, Lance's take on the episode. (What? Please
don't tell me it's worse than Todd's.)
