Episode 18: Beast of Bayville

Introducing: a blue, fuzzified Hank/Beast

The Gist of It: The episode opens with Hank teaching Chemistry. The students are all like "Dude, this is so cool!" except for our friend Evan. he's more like "I'm bored. Time to fling things at Kurt-- hey! *looks out the window* My homies are here! *gets a bathroom pass and cuts class*". Hank goes on teaching the class, sees that Evan's skipping, and has a freak out, breaking things. He then runs to the bathroom and starts quoting Shakespeare while wrecking stuff. Oooh. Later, Risty's asking Principal Kelly what happened to the room (since it's all wrecked) and he's like "Somebody seems to have gotten mad and trashed it" while Kurt's telling Kitty that he thinks McCoy did it.

Uh. So. Evan's skateboarding around and he sees Hank in the little amphitheatre (? I'm tired and my brain's trying so desperately to remember the word aaaaggg!) quoting Shakespeare madly. He's like "Dude" and Hank almost kills him... er... yeah. So Evan's like "Er, pull yourself together, man!" and skates back to the Institute, where Kitty has a package waiting for her.

At the Institute, the X-Men are running through a training session and fail because Evan wasn't there like he was supposed to be, so Rogue got hit and Scott had to carry her... and ran outta time. They're like "GRR! Now we have to do this tomorrow! Damn you, Evan!" as he comes in all late and stuff. They make little comments to him, walking out, and Storm's like "We can't even depend on you anymore." (which leads me to think "What? They depended on him? When?!")

Anywho, Kitty sees her package and is like, "Oooh! My brain enhancing pyramid hat's here!!" and proudly shows it off to Scott as he's cutely trying to like... uh... nap on the couch or something. Yeah. And then my mind went blank and Evan's at school again. He apologizes to Hank, Hank apologizes to him, and then tells him to memorize a certain Shakespeare passage for skipping class, after revealing to Evan that he was once a student and star football player at Bayville.

Whee. Uh. More stuff happens, Hank's having problems with the best inside of him, and so he goes to Xavier for help. It turns out (big surprise ;P) that Xavier once reached out to Henry when he was a student at Bayville, so they already know each other. Xavier's like "I'm sorry, I can't help you control the beast" and McCoy's like "Damn it! I'll just make a strong serum to keep it under control."

So, he goes to his classroom and works on it... Uh... unfortunately, something goes horribly wrong, and instead of supressing the beast in him, it made him turn into a big blue furry monster... who attacks Principal Kelly. O.o Principal Kelly seems to have a knack for being attacked by mutants, heheee.

Uhh... And so, Hank runs around like a wacky animal and it's up to the X-MEN to stop him! And... eventually they track him down to the apmhitheatre, where Evan's like "I know, I'll quote the Shakespeare passage to him!" The Beast is pinned to the wall by Jean's powers, and so it's forced to listen to Evan, growling and howling all the while, which probably translates to: "NOO! Stop the Shakespeare! He's butchering it! AAH!"

Anyway, the Prof arrives on the scene and helps get Hank under control. Next morning, on the news, we find that Hank is now wanted (but it's gonna be hard to find him since he no longer looks like the human Hank that they're searching for ;P) and... and that Kitty threw away the pyramid hat, which served absolutely no purpose in the episode anyway. :D And so, we see Beast and the Professor talking. Beast is kinda sad because he lost control and became a monster and is now stuck looking like one. He's also sad because he'll never be able to teach again and all that, but the Prof is like "Well, we have students here who need a great teacher like you." So! Hank McCoy/Beast is now a teacher at the Institute!

Brotherhood Moments: I think the Brotherhood committed suicide from having Boom Boom living with them... It's the only explanation for their absence that I can think of at the moment. *sigh* Two BH free episodes... how depressing :(

My Opinion: I'm gonna say this now. As if you couldn't guess already, I'm an extremely biased viewer. :P No matter how great an ep is, I will like it less if the BH's not in it. And if it's a shitty episode, I'll probably love it if there's tons of BH scenes (ala "Badda Bing, Badda BOOM!" There's no way I could've tolerated that episode if it weren't for the BH scenes). With that said, I didn't like the episode. I would've enjoyed it at least a little more if maybe Lance was present... or Pietro... or Todd... or Freddy. Or if Scott had more scenes. Man! Even if they showed Bobby, Sam, or Bobby (er... Roberto) I would've liked the episode more! I mean, I love Hank and all, but this ep didn't do much for me.... Uh... I think it's his voice. I like his old voice actor (by old, I mean the voice he had in the original X-Men animated series) so much more; he just sounded more "Hankish" to me ^^;

Plus there was so much Evan in the ep. I don't really HATE Evan, but I can do without him ;P He's a dull character to me, and it just sounds out of place to me when they're like "X-Men! Rogue! Cyclops! Nightcrawler! Spyke!" I'm like... it just... doesn't sound right to me when his name is listed with the others! O.o; Oh well. Plus, the ep kinda dragged and when they started to chase Hank down, it was soooo obvious that Evan was gonna stop him with Shakespeare. Ehhh.

Rating (out of 5): 2.5; it wasn't really a BAD episode... uh.... but it was boring, dragged, and there was no BH. >.<

BH Babble:

: I think they're dead...
: Aaggh!! What're we gonna do now?
: *shrug*
