Social Studies have never interested me and so when it came to teaching and writing lessons, I was nervous that I was not going to interest the students because I was not interested my self. This semester I learned a lot about how you can make social studies interesting for your students.  One activity we did was an interactive bulletin board.  This had to be my favorite activity and it is a great way for students to test their social studies knowledge.  Anther activity we did was gathered books on certain topics to show that you can really find a ton of books to use in your lessons.  Another activity that we did that I really enjoyed was we designed a Document Based Question.  All these ideas and activities that we did throughout the semester has really made me more confident about teaching social studies in the field.
Picture Book Text Set
~ This was an activity we did to show how many books are available to us to use in the field.  Our topic was celebrating Christmas in different Countries.
Interactive Bulletin Board
~ This was an activity I did dealing with the American Revolutionary War.  It is interactive so students can pull parts off, put things on and also a way for students to test their knowledge of a topic.
Document Based Question
~ This is a DBQ that a group of us created on the Erie Canal.  It is a great way for you to help students practice for a test and at the same time you create what they learn.
Cooperative Lesson Plan
~ This lesson is a second grade lesson that deals with learning the different holidays and also about a social skill of working together in groups.
Social Studies Lesson Plan
~ This lesson I taught in the field deals with reading the book called "The Secret Knowledge of Grownups" and the students then had to use the Spencerport rules and make up a story just like how they did in the book.
Social Studies Fun Websites
~ These are some websites dealing with social studies that is a great resource for teachers and students
