| A staple of "EarthBound" fanfiction, especially in Neo- stories, telepathy is the direct transference of thoughts between minds. It is believed that in order for it to work, at least one of the people communicating needs to fall under the category of "telepath." In accordance with "EarthBound," these individuals are generally, but not always, female, and include characters such as 202X's Karen, EarthBound Omega's Angela, and Resurrection E's Yumi. Telepathic abilities are often shown to extend beyond the popular definition. Besides being able to open a channel between minds, some telepaths can detect a nearby presence they aren't otherwise aware of, use their gift to track someone down, or exert a form of mind control over a target. The level of success tends to revolve around how skilled the practitioner currently is. |
