Dear Families:
The 612th Quartermaster
Company sends its apology to the families for not getting
the web site update sooner. Our internet service was under
an Iraqi contract that expired. The Iraqis want 22,000
dollars for the year for internet. After fighting with our
Mayor cell here at Camp Striker and talking with the Signal
Battalion we finally got fiber optics run to our Command
Post. The only down fall to the military network is, it has
restricted access which means no instant messaging. However,
the MWR center still has unrestricted internet access. We
are happy to say we are back on line and able to update our
web page.
Second, the company has made it half as
of, 1 October 2005. The time here in Iraq is flying by.
There have been several rumors of us leaving early. The
rumor is that we are leaving in November 05 is not at all
true. I am sorry. It is important that the soldiers and
families do not spread rumors of this nature. When Nov 05
passes I do not want any of you to be disappointed because
of the rumors. We have three months to Christmas and then
the company will start sending equipment home and start
moving towards redeployment. This is a critical time for
your soldier we are at the hardest part of the deployment.
What may seem not to be such a problem under normal
circumstances, at this point in our deployment will be a
huge dilemma. The soldiers are doing a wonderful job. Since
taking over our mission, we have completed over 300 missions
and traveled over 100,000 miles. They have performed beyond
any and all expectation that I and all the chain of command
ever could imagine. I believe because of the job they are
doing we have become the best company in all of COSCOM and
Theater.
Finally, I want to thank the families
for their never ending support of the troops here. It is
because of the support the troops receive from family and
friends that they are able to be the very best at what they
do.
