| HOME | PS2: Too many games? So, you may or may not have heard that the expected one million america PS2's on launch isn't going to happen. Now the total will be cut in half. Things seem to be all messed up for Sony, they seem to be getting over confident after the Playstations success and could destroy the whole games industry if its not careful. There are 33 games ready for launch day, which sounds great. What can possibly be wrong with such choice? Well, just ask yourself this question; how well will these games sell? Badly, thats how. If everyone buys one game with there PS2 on average just 15150 of each game sold. Of course, thats if it was devided fairly, the truth is, people will be spending there money on the big name games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Tekken 3, whick could meen some games could sell something stupid like 2000 copies. If games companies sell this little games, they are going to lose money, and any fool can see that that is a bad thing. Infograms will have made over 100 games by this time next year they tell us. How many of these will be original? Not many, I can assure you. They have invested just about every penny they have on the PS2, so if that fails, so will infograms and every other company who are over relying on the PS2, and the whole industry will experience a major blow. |
