it really damaging Sony? You don't have to go far to see someone say how much damage piracy is doing to the Playstation. What rubbish! Doesn't anyone find it an odd 'coincidence' that the most pirated console is also the most succesful? I already know what you are thinking "how can not paying for games make Sony and there developers money?" Well, let me explain.... Most people who own a Playstation will openly admit that it was only because they could get it chipped, so, when they do buy a chipped game, developers aren't "losing" money, because they never had it in the first place. At some time, everyone will buy at least one "real" game, wether it be when they first buy the console or when they get a game as a gift or they are really looking forward to a game and don't want to wait for all the chipping to be done. And don't forget, how do you think the "chippers" copy the games from in the first place? Buying an original copy, maybe? Sega recently announced that their Dreamcast sales have risen, apparently thanks to an American website. Excuse me? Sales rising thanks to a website? Don't be so stupid. The reason is that it was not so long ago it was worked out how to chip the Dreamcast. Infact, one of my freinds, who a few weeks before never stopped dising the Dreamcast, told me he was going to get one now that it could be chipped. Sony has got alot of money, and if they wanted to they could have easily made the PS2 impossible, or atleast a little difficult to chip. But it wasn't. Infact, it took something like two weeks for chippers to work out how to chip the Playstation 2. Chipping made the PSX as successful as it is, and Sony know it. So, what are your opinions on this topic? Send them to me and they will be shown on the site soon. |
