His way of life.
Bro. Eli Soriano admits he is poor in this
life. To make it clear, he is very poor in this life on earth when it comes to material
things. I recall another pastor whom he had a debate with, asked him in the cross
examination period. ‘You do say you are little, but I don’t see that in
you.", said the pastor. Bro. Eli answered, "Why? I said I am little in all
things, like Paul."
Then the pastor, thinking that he got Bro. Eli, asked another
question. "We always hear in your broadcasts that you have some businesses. You said,
you have an auto supply, piggeries and restaurants, etc., and we have known that the
contributions of all the members of your congregations rakes in millions, how did you say
your are little, when you are blessed with this things?"
"How is it for a million of collection, for two or more millions
of debt?" Bro. Eli answered. "I may get P40 million each year from the
contributions of the members and my businesses, but I spend twofold more than the total collections for the concerns of
the Church by borrowing money from financial institutions." From some other occurrences he also states, "The Church wasn’t
registered in my name as the owner of the corporation(Church was registered as non-profit organization). The owner of the Church’s
assets are the members of the Church."
I made an investigation and it's true! I asked one who knows the Church’s
registration and confirmed that all the Church’s assets are named to the Church. But the more
astounding fact is, all the Church’s liabilities and debts are named to him! In my
own assessment, it is better for me to be poor without debt than to be rich with debts
hanging all around me. That was worse than a poor man in the streets! A beggar in the
street knew nothing but his owns self. He begs to be fed and to have a home. He doesn't owe
anything from anybody to pay back, and to be sued if he can't pay. But what is my point here? Bro. Eli is poor and yet his debt is everywhere. That's double jeopardy! Some people think God is not with him because he receives no (material)blessings. That's where they are wrong!
The visible fact here is. Bro. Eli Soriano strictly adheres to the
teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Bible in Matthew 6:19-21
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth
and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Only one preacher, Bro. Eli
Soriano, who’s effort is more than an entrepreneur, has millions of debt everywhere.
Debt made not because it was for himself, but for the task of spreading God's word thru broadcasting, of the
truth he knew that came from the Bible, and for the love for his fellow countrymen who still are victims of hungry dogs(Isaiah 56:11) out there. All the money goes directly to
media, church missions and charity. Surely I say, the love emanating from him cannot be
corrupted by rust and moth. |
