Around October of 2000, we acquired a new pet.  This is our German Shepherd, Nakita.  It was kind of by accident that she came to live with us, I certainly never thought that Mom would let us have more than one dog at a time (like Einstein's not enough trouble).  Nakita had been passed around by a couple of families that couldn't handle the responsibilities that come with a puppy (a BIG puppy).  Finally, she was dropped off at the pound (which was really stupid, I mean, this dog is GORGEOUS and she's so smart!).  BUT, my Aunt Sue works at the veterinary clinic which houses the pound, and she told my dad about Nakita.  It took about a week to wear Mom down...and then we went and got her!

She has a blue ball that we call her Binky, because she totes it around like a little kid would a Blanky.  She won't sleep without it in her kennel, and it is always in her mouth...unless something interesting comes along to chew on, like my hand, or finger, arm...ankle, or Einstein.
