October, 1987
Microsoft debuts Microsoft Excel for Windows
December, 1987
IBM debuts its OS/2 1.0 operating system
October, 1988
IBM debuts OS/2 1.10 Standard Edition (SE) which added a graphical user interface (GUI) to the OS called Presentation Manager (PM)
1989
Tim Berners-Lee develops a point-and-click hypertext editor called "WorlDwidEweb" while working at the European Particle Physics Laboratory (CERN). The World Wide Web (WWW) is created.
