A branch of the Royal Canadian Legion was formed in Fort Vermilion on October 13, 1948 as a memorial to "Buddy" Hallett and Edward (Ted) Hansley who were killed overseas during World War II.  A memorial plaque is located in front of the hall to honour all those who gave their lives for our country, Canada.
