How it began

The Fort Vermilion Agricultural Society was incorporated on June 26,1974 with 54 charter members. Its primary objective is to encourage improvements in agriculture, horticulture, homemaking and the quality of rural life. The Society encourages leadership initiatives and sponsors projects that promote youth leadership and community development.


Agricultural Society Board

The Society Board has 12 directors including 5 executive positions:
President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary and
Treasurer.


Committees

Town 'n' Country Fair

Heritage - The natural and cultural heritage of the Municipal District of Mackenzie No. 23 is promoted through exhibits and publications at the Lean-to Museum & Archives and Visitor Log House.

Bursary- The Society's $500 Bursary is matched through Northern Alberta Development Council.


Events

Town 'n' Country Fair. The fair is co-sponsored with the Rocky Lane Agricultural Society. It usually is held the 2nd Saturday in August.

Farmers' Bonspiel

Athenaeum Evenings- Educational presentations on special interest topics.

The society provides some financial support for capital improvements and operations at the Community and Cultural Complex.
