FALL 2005 - FOUNDER-DELEGATE RUN
RD2: ERRONEOUS ERROL ISLAND
Pre Race
WEATHER: Temperature: 27 Cs (81 Fs). Wind
Factor: 6. Overall: Sunny.
2x Caseus Incendia Urbis (Cheese Fire City)
4x Caseus Incendia Speedway (Foothills)
0x Caseus Incendia (Mountain)
Rx Caseus Incendia (Rim)
NOTES: Boulders of Smouldering cheese everywhere. Rough, slippery
terrain. Very winding course around the volcano. A rickety wooden bridge over a
river of burning cheese. About 2/3 of the way through the race, the volcano
erupts turning the course into a burning hell hole with very poor visibility.
Race
FMR has a habit of dealing out terrible punishments to those
who are lucky enough to lead out a grand prix. After the terrible drugs scandal
of Atilla Snitvanburg (who has been disqualified for this race only), it seemed
nothing else could go wrong but Bellong Turuss forced a large number of
Timesplitters to turn their TVs off midrace when he was hit by a large hunk of
gooey cheese while occupying one of the leading places. Frankie Nit-problem's
cheese issues came from below as he found a chasm formed by molten cheese
erosion as he was his teams third ever DNF. this DNF also marks a possible swing
away from Oodgtastic dominance, as they have failed to score points in the last
two races, leaving them in a draw for last place with Cascadian Geoduck Racing,
on the Tour Team standings, despite having practically perfect weather for them.
It seemed by the change from 4x to 0x, that the usual suspects would begin to take control as Kik Marmington and Misamoto Kanapono both charged up the leaderboard to occupy fourth and fifth. What was surprising was the absence of the Island Racing Squad, with only two of their drivers in the top twenty, disappointing many fans who came today in hope that their boys and girl would be the team to break the longstanding hoodoo of teams never winning their home GP (Silent Monk and Jos Oxford have come closest finishing second on home soil). The MIF-Ardent Antagonists were looking in strong form at this point, looking at justification for why they were given the numbers for the third best team. Then, out of the blue cheese, came the El Equipo de Dulces drivers of Alejo Zaragoza and Jeffrey Berkes who, by the end of the third leg, were running 1-3, sandwiching Loralee Bogin of Chicanada TroutCo Racing, in only their fifth grand prix (and in said five grands prix, CTCR have already amassed more points than the Ancient Speed Demons have all season). Kik Marmington was still hovering on the edges, waiting for an opportunity to strike, which came in the fourth leg around the rim of Caseus Incendia, managing to sneak into a second place, tucking up behind eventual race winner, Pimpy McBling (Meadowbank Boy Racers) who started the leg behind Marmington but took the lead on the closing stretch. MBR could be in the middle of a resurgence as some positive results could see them replicating the form of last season that saw them take second in the Ile de France Constructors Championship. One can only guess at the driving talent of Nestle, who managed to go from four minutes behind the leader, to climb up into third place and take home one of Keetorama's best results this season. And the Island Racing Squad did manage to get all three of their drivers into the all important top twenty but failed to grab serious points. This left many punters, gamblers and betters confused as local knowledge should surely have helped around something as dangerous as Caseus Incendia.
