Airboat Nature Scenes Part 2

More Scenes From The Saint Johns River Basin

Photographs by Sherrie McPhee and Frank Odell

The area is large and open so the jungle smells one might expect from an area such as this is not noticeable while cruising on the airboat. We have been told that the area is much like some of the South Vietnam river areas that were patrolled by our PBR guys.

Spanish moss is getting a hold in some of the trees now. There is a cold spell every 10 years or so and the moss will be killed off to return and begin spreading as soon as it warms up.

Where The Tour Starts And Ends

The Lone Cabbage is a fish camp and restaurant that is home to several personally owned airboats. There are three or more launching ramps for airboats very close by, so there is often activity about. The air boaters sightsee, fish and just have fun with their boats. Of course, the tourist can ride the large airboats on the tours that are shown here (for a small price).

We have no connection with the Lone Cabbage other than we like the food there.
