Central Region

Cape Coast,Regional capital was the former government centre of
the then Gold Coast until 1877 when it was moved to Accra.The
Coastline is famosu for its Forts and Castles like the
Elmina and Cape Coast Castles which been I dentified a s
World Heritage Monuments by the World Heritage Foundation under
the United Nations.The Beachs of the Central Region are also
Serene and very beautiful like Brenu Beach,Sir Charles Beach in
Winneba.
The People of Winneba
celebrate the Aboakyere Festival which literally means during
the celebrations,a Antelope must be caught alive by
the able men of the town. In Elmina,there is the Edina Bakatue
and Edina Bronya Festivals with celebrations to thank God for
His Blessings. There are Canoe Regatta Competition among the
various towns.In Cpe Coast, there is the Masquerade Festival
which was started in 1929 and it's still strong and kicking as
it was in 1929.
Talking about
Wildlife,there is the Kakum National Park where there are wide
and rare varieties of Wild Animals.You can spot Antelopes, Wild
Geese,Elephants,Monkeys and so many more. Ever walked on a Canopy
perched atop treetops?If no is your answer,then you've come to
Kakum for an experience of a lifetime. Every two years
during July/August,there is the PANAFEST,Pan African Historical
Festival which is held at the Cape Coast Cultural Center. It
serves as a platform for all people of African Descent in the
Dispora and people from all the world to visit the
Continent and have a bond with the Motherland. African Cultural
Heritage is what's displayed and Social Issues are
Discussed to forge a way Ahead.
