The Sarracenia Alata originates from East Texas, Southwest Alabama, South Louisiana & South Mississippi.

The pitchers on this plant can grow as tall as 60 cm but are quite narrow, similar to the S.Flava. The pitchers are of a typical light green colour with some red veining on the inside.

The forms of this plant are; Red Throat Form (Top of pitchers become dark red), Green Form, Pubescent Form (Pitchers covered in soft hairs) and the Black Tube Form (Pitchers become a very deep red).

Flowers, dependant on the plants form, turn out a bright yellow/pale-cream colour.
