| Usually if your plant seems ill it could be a number of things. The main one is that the plant is not getting watered. Most CP's like to be stood in 1 inch water and some like to be simply damp in the winter. Hower this varies tremendously. The second is pests, they eat the plants, if this were to occur, you will require some pesticide/insecticide. Also is fungus, they sometimes cause your plants' roots to rot, you will therefore need a good funguside. The third is if you have just repotted your CP, and placed it in 'compost'. That is a sure way to kill your plant off! They like Sphagnum Moss Peat because it contains no nutrients and it is Acidic in pH, usually compost is either a neutral pH or an alkaline pH.. The fourth is light. A lot of CP's love direct sun light, this turns their leaves red and allows them to photosynthesize. The fifth is temperature and weather. Most CP's (Excluding tropical CP's) need about 70 F - 90 F and if you keep your CP outside, dont let the frost get to them too much! The final one is humidity, most CPs aren't really bothered about humidity but tropical plants like Nepenthes require it. |
