| The Cephalotus is a much sought after carnivorous plant originating from West Australia. If grown in full sun, these plant can be very vibrant and colourful. In their natural habitat, these plants grow in peat/sand type soils in swampy areas. Cephalotus grow from underground rhizomes and grows 2 main forms of leaves: in Spring, several non-carnivorous leaves are grown; they are oval and are of a shiny green colour. In Summer, the main carnivorous leaves are grown, they may be small to begin, but they will soon inflate. If the temperature is too hot & dry, the plant may close its lit to stop evaporation of digestive juices. Nope, Cephalotus don't require a dormacy period, they are evergreen but slow their growth in the winter. Some pitchers may die off during these cold periods of winter but new pitchers grow the following year. Long, pale green stalks are grown in the summer with flowers sat on top. Keep the plant about 70 F - 90 F, they also like a high humidity. Use the following quantities for a mix; 2:1:1 Sphagnum Peat:Sand:Perlite |
