Were an American Band (woohoo)
March 31, 2004

I have acknowledged that a big part of Rich and my relationship, besides being blood-relations, is because of music and the many bands we started and were in together.  These are the collective stories about the key bands that Rich and I were in together.  The main reason I wrote all of these stories and put them together is because of the
Rich Rust Tribute Concert.  The organizers asked me to write a bio for the Jet Fighters and that lead to the full story for the band, which then lead to the stories for the other bands to be placed in my musical resume.  Each story is embellished and creative license is utilized, but I assure you, they are all true.  I will tell each story separately, but there will be overlapping.  They will present an overview and the life cycle of each band.  You may notice a timeline quality to the stories.  Hopefully, this will give you an idea of when things are happening.  I may also tend to repeat discussions from some other stories about Rich (previously written and yet to be written) and leave the first-person writing style, but that is mainly because I want these stories to stand alone.  I will try to include all players, but please forgive me if I leave some out or forget names.  You will get an idea of the evolutions of the bands as the stories travel from one name or one homophone to another.  Some bands were for fame and some were for fun, but they all were for real.

One time after Rich and I had been playing together for over a decade, I was experiencing some apprehension about my musical abilities.  So I asked Deni if Rich liked playing music with me to gauge his position and I will never forget her answer.  She said, I dont know what he thinks about playing music with you, but I do know he loves hanging out with you.  That statement made me realize what it was all about and realigned my priorities.  Making music and forming bands to me are less about becoming famous and more about creating friendships.
