Gimme The Prize Character Image Character Information
This woman is tall and straight as a swordblade, her form lean and tightly muscled, her complexion clear and perfect, skin slightly more golden than olive. Her hair is long, thick and perfectly straight, that pale color between blond and white. Her eyes are large, slightly tilted and of a cold iron-gray color. Her eyelashes and eyebrows are naturally dark, despite her blond hair, leading one to believe her hair may be dyed. Her lips are full and slightly sinister, her teeth slightly pointed. She wears no makeup, and usually dresses in silver (colored) chainmail with accents of rubies and gold, a red cloak, and bearing a heavy mace and a long flail that resembles a metal cat-o’nine-tails. Her symbol is a flaming skull with ruby eyes. Her colors are red and silver. Her device is a skull argent with flaming eyes on a field gules. Jenever was raised by a slave woman, who brought her up claiming that Jenever was the daughter of another slave woman and a powerful warrior who left to do battle the day she was born and was never seen again. She has no record of these people save the knowledge that he was freeborn and of great martial skill. Her foster mother died in childbirth five years after Jenever’s birth, having never given her a satisfactory description of her parents. As an orphan and the daughter of a slave, Jenever was the property of the ruling warlord to do with as he pleased. He sent her to the Great Games, where she was trained as a gladiator. Her prowess in the arts became legendary, helped along by the fact of her striking appearance and her bloodthirsty nature. She gave the crowd exactly what it wanted. At nineteen, due to her exceptional acts in the arena, the Warlord freed her and accepted her into his army. Jenever was never satisfied with second place, however, and set her sights on the warlord’s empire. She was given her chance when the rival warlord attacked. Constantly winning battles and gaining ground and prestige for her master and herself, Jenever’s legend grew and grew. She made friends with those who were powerful and stepped on those who were not. In two years she was the most powerful woman in the empire, and possibly in the Shadow. She could wait no longer. In a private audience with the Warlord, she slew him and took his throne. There was no opposition. Jenever had made certain there would not be. There was only one puzzling, irritating, nauseating little detail, a detail that continues to haunt Jenever, casting a shadow over her pleasure in being Warlord, Empress, and conqueror. Just before she killed him, the Warlord said to her, “So, you have come at last to kill me. I could have expected no less of someone of your lineage.” Not long after taking the throne of S'jaiteh, Jenever attained plantaxy in an extraordinary fashion. This plantaxy led her to the destruction of her kingdom, but also to her first contact with others of her blood. She was captured by Karadon, freed by the Resistance, and introduced to a good many new friends and enemies. She discovered finally what the Emperor had meant. Jenever is a clone of the Enchanter, the Amberite Prince Bleys. Jenever is a narcissist. Narcissism is defined as someone who has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited power, believes that she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people, requires excessive admiration, has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with her expectations, is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve her own ends, lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others, is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of her, shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes. A narcissist needs the love and admiration of others. She grows to consider others either suppliers of the love she needs, or competitors for it. Also she can be manipulated by others who recognize this failing and sweet-talk her, she can be manipulated by her own pride into situations where she cannot back down, or into leaving enemies alive because they cannot threaten her, and her relationships with people tend to be affected. This disorder can be treated, but she has yet to do so. Narcissism is generally the result of childhood trauma or abuse. Jenever keeps that much about her past mostly secret, however, for her own reasons. Not that there is much of anything she wouldn't say to get what she wants. Jenever is mostly motivated by two factors: a desire for power, prestige and adoration, and her insatiable curiosity. At this point, her main goals are for the power she lost, to gain some measure of revenge against those would cage her, and to find real love from someone she can respect. She is plagued by a constant fear of failure, which she hides beneath her arrogance. She cannot get rid of the nagging fear that she might be the same as (or worse than) everybody else.
