Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How can I get rid of ....love handles, this double chin, my thighs, my flabby arms, this beer gut...etc.

Well the fact of the matter is that there is no such thing as spot reduction. Sorry everyone, we can't give you a magic exercise to rid yourself of that troublesome body part we all seem to have.

  2. Why do I need a personal trainer?

If you aren't sure where to start, if you haven't exercised in a while, if you have any special circumstances (injuries, heart conditions, obesity, general laziness) there is no question that you should consult the help of a professional. A trainer will be able to put together a program for you and make sure you are not putting yourself in danger of injury when working out. Having a trainer is also a way to motivate you to work and do the things you need to.

  3. What do I look for in a trainer?

I have to be careful answering this one. Certifications are a start, but to be honest there are plenty of trainers out there not worth a damn. You don't want a trainer who is just a jock who passed a test. It helps if the trainer is experienced in training many different people. Ask around the gym and speak to some of his/her clients. I've seen people stay with the same trainer for years and not make any progress at all. Beware of the trainers who simply chat and change the weights for theit clients, they're a waste of money. Ask and look around. I firmly believe that trainers ARE NOT NEEDED on a daily workout basis......read on.

  4. When can I get rid of my trainer ??

This is a question that SHOULD be asked more often. The primary job of a trainer should be to set you up and get you going. After that, I think you should be left alone for a while. It makes no sense to pay someone to watch you exercise,if you have been taught how to exercise. If you are following a good routine and you can do activity without needing motivation or help (medical concerns are an exeption)....bag the trainer until you need more help.

Health and fitness should be affordable.
