During the action component you will do three things:

1.  Use your research and come up with a plan to help “save the bay.” To accomplish this, you are going to create your own special interest group whose goal will be to organize a campaign to inform the public of the current problems and how they can help to solve them.  You may choose to create a poster, flier, informational brochure or commercial to get your message out.

Examples of Interest Groups

         Wildlife Interest Group

         Green Peace

         PETA

         NRA

2. Draft legislation (write a bill) that will address one of the problems causing pollution in the Bay. Use the template and example below to help you.

3.  Write a letter to the Congressman or Senator from Maryland of your choice.  When writing the letter include the following:

Ø     Who you are and why you are writing the letter (intro)

Ø     Some information on the current state of the Bay

Ø     Suggestions on what can be done to help solve this problem

Ø     What types of laws you would like to see     he/she draft and/or support concerning the Bay

Ø      A conclusion in which you thank the Congress person for his or her time

* Group members must evaluate all work together.  Go to the evaluation page to see how each part will be graded.
