Welcome to the Hook Set? This page is for you're fishing stories that you would like to see in print. This page is for fishing entertainment only, and any fishing story printed on this page must have some truth to them (or not), you must have seen at least one fish in your lifetime, or you must have smelled a fish cooking, or heard of a fish being cooked somewhere. If you have done any of these, then you have the right to see your fishy story here. Your name will be posted with your story if you wish, if not leave your name off the bottom of your e-mail letter and I take this as not to print your name to your story. Please remember fishing is for the whole family and so is this page.

SNAKE!!!
01/17/98

I got on the water so early that morning the fish hadn't even had a chance to wake yet. It had already hit 103 degrees and the sun wasn't even up. I left the house without eating, and after an hour on the water I felt a hunger pain shoot through me that could have hit 4.0 on the Richter scale. So, I dropped two eggs overboard into shallow water for a quick soft boil.

After I finishing off my breakfeast, I poured what coffee I had left in my thermos over my head to cool off, and nearly froze to death. I fished, if that's what you want to call it, for three more hours without a bite. By this time it was so hot that my line was melting on my reels and sticking together, making it that much harder to hit my targets. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I headed my boat to the back end of a shady cove.

The temperature had now hit 108 in the shade, and I decided just to tie up to a standing tree and kick back and relax. As the boat bumped the tree I heard a crack then a loud snap, and a huge limb from the tree hit the water with a splash. Just before it hit the water I noticed a large snake about eight foot long wrapped around the limb. Just as quick as it hit the water the snake came shooting out about half cooked and looking like an old man that had spent to much time in a steam bath. The snake landed on the deck of my boat with a thud and hiss. It just laid there staring at me with his glazed over eyes.

Now, if any of you guys out there go fishing and hear a weak, whimpering voice coming from the back of a shady cove. Please come and get me out of this tree. "The snake has my boat!!!"
