In Memory of Two Heroes
Frank E.Young and John R.Hudgins,Jr.,
Two Chesapeake Virginia firefighters
who gave their life
in the line of duty battling a
four alarm fire at the
Indian River Shopping Center
on Monday, March 18, 1996.

My son is a volunteer EMT
with Chesapeake and
was acquainted with both
Frank and John.
He was extremely affected
by the deaths of these
brave men and
wrote the following poem.
I hope you will permit me to
publish it here in their honor.
On March eighteenth nineteen ninety-six
We started to light our candle wicks.
In memory of our two fallen friends
Who gave their lives in the end.
Frank Young and John Hudgins
were their names
Two firefighters who perished
in the flames.
These men were brave and
gave it their all
We thought it was just another call.
And no one knew what was
really in store
God we wish they never went
through the door
From that day forward
they'll always be heroes
We'll think of them
whenever we drag a hose.
These men were no different
than you and me
Both of these men had a happy family.
One at the station and one at home
I guess that's why
I've written this poem.
A way to help in healing my friends
I pray to God this doesn't happen again.
For we might be big,
strong and even tough
But even for us,enough is enough.
Dedicated in the memory of
John Hudgins Jr. and Frank Young,
Our Friends Forever.
