You will need a SNES emulator to play the rom. I recommend ZSNES becuase it is simply beautiful. Go to Zsnes's homepage and download whatever version of the emulator you want.

Although I highly recommend ZSNES, there is a part in the game, where you see nothing but black water (Ship Graveyard). If you are one of those who see nothing but water, download this emulator and play your game. If you do, the underwater parts will become visible. Once you are out of the Ship Graveyard, you can decide for yourself if you want to keep this emulator or go back to ZSNES. If you feel like you absolutely need to use ZSNES and not Snes9x, than it is said that you can press "8" and "2" to take away the water effect layers. And then to press "6" to put the layers back to normal after you get out of the water.

This must be one of the coolest things I've seen for this game! You can now play the game as Cloud Strife! This zip contains an IPS file, and a patching program. Here are some specific directions:
1) Extract the files.
2) Create a copy of your ff5.smc file (to keep an original copy of the game).
3) Run ISPWin.exe
4) File to Patch: your ff5.smc file
5) IPS Patch to use: Hackedff.ips
6) Play the patched rom to make Butz turn into Cloud Strife!
Note: This is just a beta version so sometimes Butz won't look like Cloud (like in battles). So don't worry too much.

This is my save in the game. In other words, this is where I am in the game. So far, I have all jobs MASTERED for EVERYONE. And I didn't cheat. I actually spent the time to learn them all. If you don't believe me, just check the time. 70+ Hours! The only thing I cheated on were the HP and MP and a couple of other things that don't do anything. But of course, I cheated after I beat the game a hundred times. ... ... ok.

Okay everyone, I went ahead and remade all the codes for the new version of ZSNES (v1.31b). This cheat file give everyone 9999 HP, 999 MP, and infinite items in the first position. This is a .CHT file. To get the cheats to work, to the following...
Copy the .CHT file to the ROM Directory or if you have a save directory defined, copy it to the Save Directory. Then rename the .CHT file if necessary so that the filename before the . matches the ROM file. Then load the game and load the cheats from the Cheats menu.
