Congratulations on your cadet's decision to attend this Recruit Training. During the two weeks here, he or she will make many friends, grow in confidence and self-esteem, and better understand our cadet program and the military lifestyle.
As a parent, you are vital in helping your cadet achieve success. Be sure to read the section for Unit Commanding Officers. There is specific information included there that will be important for you to know and understand. Be sure that your cadet has all the items listed on the seabag, and nothing else. We will not permit medications of any kind at this training, so please don't put us in the position of having to turn anyone away because of medical problems. You should also regularly check the Update page.
While it is tempting to help in sewing flashes, buttons, etc. on uniforms, be sure your cadet knows how to do this without assistance. You will not be at Recruit Training to help. Check all your cadet's belongings to make sure that everything is marked with the cadet's name and last 4 digits of the SSN.
Recruits will report no earlier than 1200 and no later than 1600 on Sunday, 28 June. Once your cadet begins checking-in, you will not see your son or daughter again until graduation. Be sure to say your goodbyes at the door. A place will be provided for you to wait, and we ask that you wait to leave until your cadet has been completely processed and accepted. We will make every attempt to process cadets as quickly as possible, but please be patient. A member of staff will notify you when your cadet is finished checking-in and you may leave.
It may be difficult to leave your cadet at training, but you will be extremely proud when you come for graduation and see your cadet march onto the field. Your cadet will most likely be somewhat nervous or unsure, and you can best help by remaining calm and confident.
Graduation will be held on Saturday, 11 July. The place and time may be available at check-in, and will be posted on the website as soon as available.
