FUND RAISING
There are as many ways to raise money as there are people willing to donate it.
Here are some of the programs weve found successful.
CHURCH BUILT HOME
Our biggest yearly fund raiser is the Church Built Home.  Each year area churches combine their resources to build a home.  Some churches sponsor parts of construction, some contribute a small amount monthly, some sponsor work days and some provide volunteers.  Together it is a great way to become involved and everyone has a good time.

STUD SALE
One of the most inventive and useful fund raises we have is the Stud Sale.  Studs are 2" x 4" x 92 5/8" boards which are used to put up walls.  An church's volunteer picks up a number of them (10, 20, 30, etc) from us and takes them to their church.  They sell the stud to members of the church for $10.00.  The buyer can then put their favorite Bible verse on the stud and return it to be used in the construction of a home.  In this way we raise money and materials to build the home.  In addition, that is one well protected and looked after home.

SQUARE FOOT OF CONSTRUCTION
Similar to the Stud Sale, except that a square foot of floor tile is used.  To sponsor a square foot of construction costs $36.00.

CONSTRUCTION SPONSOR
Many of the businesses that support us do so by sponsoring a part of the construction.  Trusses, walls, doors, windows, floor tile, heating and air, roof shingles, paint, drywall, cabinets, etc

CELL PHONE DRIVE
We currently are able to get money for old cell phones.  This is a wonderful program that earns us money as well as serve a good purpose.  Each cell phone is sent to a company that pays us for each phone donated.  The phones are reprogrammed to be able to only dial 911 and then are given to battered wives, the elderly, and families in crisis.

ALUMINUM CAN RECYCLING

Habitat accepts donations of aluminum cans.  Periodically we turn these in and collect money for them.  Habitat has boxes that can be obtained to put at offices, schools, events, etc.

AUCTIONS
A sponsoring organization gets donations of things to be auctioned.  Proceeds from the auction are donated to Habitat.  One of the best of these was an organization that got a building materials donated.  Those that would not sell were given to us and we were able to use them in a home.  They not only raised a lot of money, they also provided building materials that helped us keep our costs down.

BAKE SALES

Bake sales are of course a tried and true method of raising funds.

CAR WASH
Another tried and true method for raising funds.

GOLF TOURNAMENT
Every year we hold a golf tournament in April.  Local businesses sponsor holes, food, etc and teams pay to enter.  Its a great time for everyone and a real money maker too.

RIDE FOR HABITAT

Every year in August we have a motor cycle ride that raises money for Habitat.  Many of the area motorcycle groups join together to raise funds.

RAFFLES

Raffles are a great way to raise money.  The best of these are to get a business to donate the prize so that all the profits may go to Habitat.

EVENING OF SHOPPING

Sponsored by the Killeen Mall, this fund raiser is for all area non-profit organizations.  All of the stores in the mall join in by offering specials on a particular night.  The mall is closed about a half hour before the event.  When the mall reopens, only individuals with tickets are allowed in.  The tickets are sold by area non-profits and they keep the entire amount of the ticket.  Many groups can help with this fund raiser by selling tickets for Habitat.

CHILI COOK-OFF

Great fun for all.  Entrants pay a fee, part of the proceeds go to the prize.  Visitors pay to eat.  Judges determine the winner of the prize.  The remainder of the funds go to Habitat.

MONTHLY CONTRIBUTIONS
Several individuals and area churches donate monthly.  Each contribution is small, but its cumulative effect is in the thousands of dollars a year.

DONATION BOXES
We have small cardboard boxes that we pass out and are placed in several area businesses.  These small change boxes can generate a lot of money.  Some of the churches use them to send home with their members who return them a month later with what ever pocket change they put in them.  Collectively this is also a great money maker.
