HOW DO I APPLY FOR A HABITAT HOME?
Applications are only accepted during �open application periods� held 2-3 times
each year. Contact the local Habitat office 254-680-4007 for information on the next application period.

� showing proof of income for a minimum of three months for all members of houseshold (pay stub, social security, child support, SSI, disability, etc)
� providing birth dates of dependents who will live in Habitat home
� show proof of citizenship for applicant and co-applicant if either was not born in U.S.
� being prepared to explain problems (if any) with current living situation

WHAT HAPPENDS AFTER I COMPLETE THE APPLICATION?
10 Key Facts
� You will be asked to sign an Authorization to Release form that will be used to request statements and references from your bank, landlord, employer, social service agencies, credit report, etc.
� A home visit will be done by Family Selection representatives (by appointment).
� When all documentation is received, your file will be reviewed by the Family Selection Committee to determine if you will be recommended to the Board of Directors for approval as a Habitat homeowner.
� You will be notified in writing regarding the board�s decision.
� If you are selected, you will be given an appointment to meet with Habitat representatives who will outline the next steps in the homeowner process.
� It takes approximately 3 months from the time application is made until the fiinal board vote takes place.

HOW LONG BEFORE I MOVE INTO MY HABITAT HOUSE?
The time between selection and move-in varies but typically is about one year.
A Habitat homeowner is not assigned a house location until they have completed a set number of initial
sweat equity hours. Move-in does not take place until the remaining sweat equality hours are completely.

Habitat homes are built at locations made available to us either as donations or where we are able to purchase land at a cost within your home's budget. You will be given a choice of properties to the extent possible but there is no guarantee you will be able to choose your home's location.
Our service area includes Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, and Nolanville.
