Chemistry: A Preferred Science Major
| Along with these classes, students also need
to take Inorganic Chemistry that is a hard class. Then students are suppose
to take Physical Chemistry that a lot of students have trouble with and
causes a lot of problems because people do not understand the information
right, and get confused because of it. The chemistry student must also take
microbiology, which is needed as a science requirement for the science majors.
Then students must also do an internship to understand all the information
learned first hand. The last thing that is related to the science field
that is needed is chemistry literature. It is needed in order to go to jobs
and understand what people are saying, so he/she can understand. The math classes are the same way. Students need to take College Algebra and then go into Calculus and even more math depending on how far one wants to go in the chemistry field. The math classes are also located in Birck Hall. Math classes are needed to make sure students are capable to do the hard calculations that are given to them in the math classes and so they have the background knowledge to understand equations and formulas. In all, a student needs around 136 hours to graduate with a chemistry degree. It will change depending on what type of concentration he/she is doing in order to get into the desired field. Dr. Ferroni enjoys every aspect of chemistry, especially, teaching students who are eager to learn. He first started to like chemistry when he went to high school and found the class interesting. Ferroni's friends were also in the class, which made the class pleasant. His chemistry teacher pushed an undergraduate school because he did not know where to go after high school and that was good for chemistry. His high school teacher basically helped him choose the college. |
