| Honest ladies, you are beautiful. Throughout history, both men and women have worn makeup, even dating back into ancient times. In the past hundred years or so, men learned that it was pointless and rarely (if ever) wear it by choice. They may be slow learners, but at least they figure stuff out eventually. Whoever was the first person to decide to use makeup in whatever form it was in all those years ago has become the archenemy of all men? In fact, in the original script of Dante�s Inferno, the ninth circle had four members, not the three that are more commonly known. Next to Judas, Brutus, and Cassius, the poor fool who came up with the idea of using makeup is suffering the worst fate of all, but it is far too gruesome to be explained in this study. Because of the hateful way Dante described this person, they were quickly removed from the work.
The greatest reason for the confusion men have regarding makeup is why girls choose to spend (waste) their time putting it on. To a man, his appearance is not the most important thing. Men prefer comfort over appearance, and makeup is not comfortable to wear. Other causes for confusion come about when a person applies too much makeup and begin to look worse than they did when they started out. Some people also use makeup to make themselves look truly scary, sometimes trying to make their face appear pale and wearing black lipstick that creates a very �visiting from Transylvania� appearance. The part about makeup that many guys do not know about, is the worst part is not putting it on or wearing it, the worst part about makeup is taking it off. Makeup can easily take thirty minutes just to take off, even when using things that supposedly remove it. Why a girl is willing to put herself through this is explained later, but makeup is not a pleasant experience, even for those few who try to live out the pretense that they like makeup. Other dangers exist in using makeup. Things like foundation and blush have a tendency to clog the pores, and can cause women, and especially girls, to break out in acne. When they see the acne, they want to cover it with makeup. The makeup in turn causes more acne, and the vicious cycle continues, with the poor victims unaware of the situation. So how could so many women fall prey to makeup, a totally pointless invention that does not even serve its supposed purpose? Well, the simple answer is women are very competitive amongst each other. The makeup gives them a better feeling about themselves, boosting their self esteem, and making them feel prettier than that other girl, even though the average guy will disagree. This is why guys are generally not susceptible to makeup�s trap. While a girl may wake up and say to herself �I wish I was pretty,� the average guy does not want to be pretty. The average guy would commit suicide if he felt pretty. Although it is true that some guys wish they were better looking, they know that makeup is not the solution. They make lemonade out of lemons, while women try to trade the lemons for gold. The worst part about makeup for a man is when he is forced to wear it. On the rare instances, a man must wear makeup, his hatred for the person who made it grows, and he is not on great terms with those who buy it and have not just let the cosmetics industry shrivel and die. |
