Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Rd.CASWELL ELLIS WHEELER, 88 of Raleigh, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2005. Born in Granville County on December 25, 1916, he was the son of Benjamin Elliott Wheeler and Lee Moss Wheeler. He was predeceased in 1981 by his loving wife of 41 years, Margaret Westbrook Wheeler, and in 1989 by his granddaughter, Brooke Michele Ward. Caswell is survived by five children, Marguriete Nelson, Pat Danieley, Cathy Carter, Sue Pollard, and Ellis Wheeler, all of Raleigh. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Jeff and Jerry Ward, Marlou Baucom, Danna Pittman, Caron and Allison Carter, Jennifer and Brant Pollard, and Laura and Lindsay Wheeler, as well as nine great- grandchildren. Surviving also are two sisters, Imogene Watson and Annie Ruth Koger, both of Oxford, North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. Caswell worked with the Seaboard Coastline as a railroad engineer for 38 years. Since 1951 he has been a member of Creedmoor Road Baptist Church where he faithfully served as an ordained deacon and in many other capacities. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family and Sunday afternoon visitations to family and friends. The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Road, on Sunday, September 11 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, with Reverend J. Michael Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, 7600 ACC Blvd., Raleigh, NC. Aubrey graduated from Ceedmoor High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force on 23 May 1944. He served in the western United States and the South Pacific. While in the U.S> Air Force he earned a two year colege degree. Aubrey spent most of his life with General Motors, Pontiac Division. Aubrey suffered a heart attack in 1979 which resulted in open heart surgery. He retired in 1985 and underwent another by-pass operation in 1988. Aubrey was very active in his church and in the South Granville Exchange Club. He is a recipient of the Book of Golden Deeds Award. This is the highest honor bestowed by the Exchange Club. It is given annually to an individual acknowledged for having rendered unselfish and distinguished service to the people of their community. On 15 July 1993, the Butner_Creedmoor News named Aubrey "Person of the Week" and said of him, "If Aubrey tells you he'll get the job done ... forget it ...it's done. Aubrey has been active in many community service roles for many years. His charities often go unhearlded. Aubrey helps because he loves to help, not because he wants publicity. Aubrey is proud to be an American and takes every opportunity to foster patriotism. He is proud to be a Christian and works hard to follow the Golden Rule. He was instrumental in the formation of the South Granville Exchange Club. This club has been acknowledged statewide and nationally as one of the top clubs. Aubrey should be proud of the Exchange club and his quiet survice to mankind."
