As a young man, Ollie farmed with his father, but became a trader. Not just in his own community - he became a traveling salesman. He started by traveling over the country buying up sorghum seed for Hardison Seed Co. of Nashville, working on commission. He bought the seed from the farmers and they delivered it to Smyrna and LaVergne railroad station as well as other places. The seed was stored in Nashville, then shipped abroad by the ship load. Soon, he was offered the job of a salesman overseas. Apparently WW I interrupted those plans. He went for a physical examination for service one week before his death. At that time he weighed 274 pounds. Annie Richeson taught school at Tenn. Industrial School before her marriage. The school was an orphanage at that time. When Ollie Johnson began to court her, she was a resident of the Burnett's Church community. To support her family after his death, she bought cows and sold produce. She also did sewing for the other residents of the Cane Ridge Community.
Malinda married Ollie Boyd Johnson on 3 Sep 1908. Ollie was born on 23 Dec 1885 in Davidson Co., Tennessee. He died on 11 Oct 1918.
