DOE
SIGNS DEAL WITH SYNERGY FOR CNG INFRASTRUCTURE
DEVELOPMENT
The
Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine branch
of Synergy International Resources Group Co., Ltd.
recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
for cooperation in the development of Compressed
Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure in the country.
Synergy has committed to invest US$ 200 million for
the establishment of CNG refueling system for the
whole Metro Manila area for CNG utilization in

Natural
Gas Vehicle Fit for a Prime Minister
BANGKOK
- The Thai Government has taken delivery of a
natural gas powered Mercedes Benz E200 NGT, on loan
from DaimlerChrysler to Prime Minister Thaksin
Shinawatra for a one year trial period. The loan
follows the announcement in July 2005 that
DaimlerChrysler plans to commence manufacture of the
E200 NGT in Thailand, the first plant outside of

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo agreed on Thursday

between the two countries, especially in the fields

Seoul,
Manila to increase energy cooperation
The
Philippine Government and the Korean Government
signed three deals to further strengthen bilateral
cooperation in the energy sector between the two
countries. The two MOUs signed by Philippines Energy
Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla and Republic of Korea’s
Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE)
Minister Lee, Hee-Beom aims to assist the Philippine
government in its power development programs and
accelerate the country’s barangay electrification
program while the third MOU signed by the Philippine
National Oil Company (PNOC) and Korea Gas
Corporation (KOGAS) aims to promote the development
of the country’s downstream natural gas industry.

Philippine
President Takes Delivery of First CNG Buses for
Metro Manila
Cummins
Westport Inc. reported the July 1 launch by the
Philippine Department of Energy of the country's
first clean air public buses that will operate in
Metro Manila. The Chinese-made buses are powered by
Cummins Westport low-emissions natural gas engines.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and DOE Secretary
Raphael P. M. Lotilla, joined by Canadian Ambassador
to the Philippines Peter Sutherland and Chinese
Ambassador Wu Hongbo, were the first passengers of
the CNG bus at the launch ceremony and test run at
the presidential palace in Manila. Full

Compressed
Natural Gas-run buses launched
PRESIDENT
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo launched the first
commercial bus using indigenous compressed natural
gas (CNG) -- the government’s answer to the
surging prices of oil. The buses will be powered by
CNG, which will be sold at 14.50 per liter for the
next seven years, 50 percent lower than diesel,
which is 29.50 per liter, according to Energy
Secretary Raphael Lotilla.

PGMA Friday
Government
efforts to achieve energy independence in the wake
of the skyrocketing prices of oil in the world
market takes a giant leap on Friday when the first
commercial bus using indigenous compressed natural
gas (CNG) is presented to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
at Malacanang grounds.

Gov't
to push compressed natural gas-fueled transport
system this year
To
mitigate the adverse effects of the continuously
increasing prices of oil, the government will push
the operationalization of its compressed natural gas
(CNG)-fueled public transport system project this
year. Department of Energy (DoE) Secretary Raphael
Lotilla said they will inaugurate next June the CNG
mother gas stations and field out initial buses to

Launches CNG Fleets in Australia
Isuzu-General
Motors of Australia have commissioned the first CNG
Isuzu N series trucks outside of Japan, with seven
trucks being put into operation with two municipal
councils, one in Sydney and one north of Sydney.
