Bus Operators to Sign Purchase Contracts for CNG
Buses with Cummins Westport and Chinese Bus
Manufacturers
CNG
buses will soon be plying the major thoroughfares in
Luzon as five local bus companies signed today an
agreement with Chinese bus manufacturers Anhui Ankai
Automobile and Zhengzhou Yutong Company. Cummins

Westport Seals Philippine CNG Engine Deals
Cummins
Westport Inc. has confirmed it will supply 100
B-series compressed natural gas-fueled (CNG) engines
for public transit buses in Metro Manila as part of
the Philippine government�s Natural Gas Vehicle
Program for Public Transport (NGVPPT). These
will be the first fleets of low-emissions CNG buses
to be used in the country and are expected to be

OEMs to Supply CNG Buses to Manila Fleets
Manila
bus fleet operators are accompanying President
Gloria Arroyo during a visit to China this week to
finalise purchase arrangements for up to 140
compressed natural gas (CNG) buses for Manila. Apart
from trial buses, these will be the first
operational CNG fleets in the Philippines.

Bus
operators commit to CNG in Manila
Four
bus operators have signed a Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA) with the Philippines Department of Energy
(DOE), giving a commitment to purchase CNG buses
within the next two months. The commitment paves the
way for mother-daughter refueling infrastructure to
be established in Manila. The DOE is the principal
agency for the Philippines Govenrment's NGV Program
for Public Transport (NGVPPT) and has spent almost
two years coordinating stakeholders including fleet
operators, gas suppliers, government licensing
agencies, development banks and vehicle suppliers. Full

incentives to get go ahead
The
Philippines Board of Investments is to approve a
series of incentives designed to accelerate the
Government's natural gas vehicle (NGV) programs. The
incentives will be available to transport operators,
fuel suppliers, conversion shop operators and
vehicle manufacturers who reach specific

Motor Corp is to release the CNG Wagon R in Japan
this July. The compact mini car is fitted with a 658
cc dedicated engine and will have 3 CNG tanks
delivering a driving range of 260 km (165 miles).
Interior space in the car is the same as its

Singaporean
firm to invest $4-M in Cebu - DOE
The
Department of Energy has signed a service contract
(SC) with Gas to Grid Pte. Ltd. (G2G) of Singapore
which committed to invest an initial $4 million in
Central Cebu. The seven-year SC covers 2,415 square
kilometers of onshore development in Central Cebu
area within the Visayas petroleum basin.

Gas Vehicles (NGVs): For Cleaner Air in Metro Manila
Emissions
from motor vehicles have been identified as the
major cause of air pollution in Metro Manila area.
Almost 4.2 million motor vehicles that ply
the various roads and thoroughfares in the country
are diesel and gasoline fed. The Government of the
Philippines
through the Department of Energy (DOE) has focused
on developing an aggressive program on the use of
clean fuels, that is facilitated through the
