Oil: Neroli
Properties: Has a smell that is true to nature, of wonderful bitter-orangey blossom. It is a hypnotic, sedative, calming, relaxing and anti-depressant.

Actions: Excellent for any kind of stress or tension, over-excitement, anxiety, insomnia or fears, and is excellent for improving dry or mature complexions.

Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation.  Since neroli is a natural tranquilliser, use it with other relaxing oils for the sweetest bath.  It is wonderful for any relaxing massage- back, scalp, neck, face, hand or foot- and improves skin texture at the same time.  It is an ideal and safe oil to use during pregnancy.

Warning: Neroli essential oil is perfectly safe for home use. All citrus oils need to be stored in a cool, dark place to preserve them and keep them fresh.

Oil: Orange
Properties: The essential oil is almost 90% limonene, which is why it refreshes and stimulates while at the same time leavingyou relaxed. It is a good skin rejuvenator.

Actions: Excellent for calming children, or anyone who is lethargic or over-tired. Use it for sun exposed skin, wrinkles or a dull sallow complexion.

Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, poultice, compress.  It is useful for massage when you need to relax after a hard day,  or for any facial massage. It makes an excellent body mousturiser, and if added to the bath, can calm fractious children.

Warning: Orange essential oil should be used in moderation as it may irritate skin, especially if it is exposed to sunshine after application. Store in a cool dark place.


Oil: Patchouli
Properties: Has a woody, earthy, sweet smell that is pungent and persistent.  It stimulates in small amounts and sedates when used more generously.  It is anti-inflammatory and antiseptic.

Actions: Used for tiredness, tension, burns, acne, dandruff, eczema, and oily skin or scalp. It is a heady, sensual oil.

Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, poultice, compress.  Makes a relaxing or energising body massage, a therapeutic head and scalp massage and a good oily-skin facial. A few drops in the bath will stimulate if used in moderation, or sedate if ussed in larger amounts.

Warning: Perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application.

Oil: Peppermint
Properties: The essential oil is nearly one third menthol, which is why it invigorates, clears the head, stimulates and is soothing refreshing and cooling.

Actions: Excellent for headaches, mental fatigue, muscular pain, varicose veins, sunburn, insect bites, nausea, indigestion, PMT, or menopausal hot flushes.

Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, compress.  A few drops on a tissue can clear your  head, whether you're suffering from a cold or mental fatigue, and relieve headaches or any nausea, from travel to morning sickness. Four dros in a basin will refresh tired feet.  Use sparingly for massage or in the bath.

Warning: Peppermint essential oil is very potent, so never apply undiluted to the skin, or just before going to sleep. Always use in moderation.

Oil: Petitgrain
Properties: Has a tangy, sharp, orange smell and combines both relaxing and stimulating properties.  It is ideal as a remedy for any form of stress or tiredness.

Actions: It is very effective in treating insomnia, fatigue,low energy, backache, muscular tension or any kind of nervousness.

Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. To relax after a hard day or help cure sleeplessness, add  the essential oil to a warm bath. For tension, massage into the lower spine, upper back, nape of neck and temples.  And for instant relief from fatigue or nerves, inhale a few drops on a tissue.

Warning: Petitgrain oil is perfectly safe for home use.  All citrus oils need to be stored in a cool, dark place to preserve them and keep them fresh.

Oil; Pine
Properties: Has a very strong balsamic, camphor smell and is both stimulating and antseptic.

Actions: A strong germ killer and tonic, excellent for any viral infections such as coughs, colds and flu, and for muscular aches, rheumatism or arthritis.

Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, poultice. For a cough or blocked nose, massage into the chest. Rub into aching joints.  In the bath it improves circulation and relieves muscular pain.  Used diluted on a damp cloth, it makes an effective household disinfectant for the bathroom or to deodorise shoes.

Warning: Perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application.
