Oil: Marigold Properties: Has a musky, woody, slightly unpleasant smell but is a soothing therapeutic agent. Actions: Best for healing and soothing burns, cuts, eczema, itchiness, or over-dry inlamed or sensitive skin. It is also excellent for insect bites, rashes or sunburn. Home uses: Massage, baths. Although marigold is an excellent healer, the smell can be off-putting so it is best used in small doses. Add a few drops to a warm bath for skin complaints or dilute it with a carrier oil and massage in. Warning: Marigold oil is perfectly safe for home use if well diluted before application. Oil: Marjoram Properties: Has a spicy, peppery, camphor-and -thyme smell and is relaxing, soothing, warming and fortifying. Actions: Good for headaches, insomnia, tension, bruises, aches, pains, sprains, chilblains, lumbago, bronchitis, coughs and colds. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. Add a few drops to a hot bath to boost the circulation and lift the spirits, as well as soothing any aches or muscular pains..For massage, it is particulary good for a stiff neck, headache, migaine, aching joints and muscular pain. Inhale it with steam to relieve a chesty cough or congestion. Warning: Marjoram is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application. Do not use it during pregnancy. Oil: Mimosa Properties: Has a sweet honey-like green, floral smell and is relaxing, soothing, calming, antiseptic and astringent. Actions: Useful for general skin care and invaluable for its cheering effect, to treat depression, melancholy, emotional upset, or any kind of nervous tension. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. Added to a warm bath, it is an uplifting soak that will soothe your spirits as much as your skin. It makes a lovely scalp, neck or face massage. Warning: Perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application. Oil: Myrrh Properties: Has a rich, spicy, camphorish smell. It is warming, relaxing, healing, anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, astringent and a good expectorant. Actions: Excellent for healing skin, for eczema, mature complexions poor circulation, arthritis and any chest or nasal congestion. Home uses: Massage, baths, inhalation. Myrrh is wonderful as a wintery oil since it has a rich and warming effect. A few drops in a bath relieves stress, or use it for an anti-wrinkle, facial massage.A soothing hand massage, a warming foot massage or for any dry skin . Inhaled from a tissue or with steam it relieves a chesty cough and is a good expectorant. Warning: Myrrh is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is well diluted before application.
