Cheif
Cheifs are the head of the Caravan, usually the most intelligent and strongest of the Defore. They can be either Cionre or Ninidia. Hendunu cheifs are uncommon, but not unheard of. Cheifs make the laws, command the the other ranks, and rule their Caravan until the day they die. It is quite uncommon for a cheif to be over thrown. There can only be up to 2 cheifs in a Caravan. They are usually both male.
Shaman
Shamen are the magic users and healers of a Caravan. They are not too common, so a Caravan with a shaman is a lucky one indeed. Shamen are capable of all the spiritual magics, and quite gifted at healing wounds and sicknesses. Shamen can be male or female. The Cheif's first child of appropriate gender is always mated to the Caravan's shman. As Shamen are rare, there can only be one per Caravan.
Hunter
Hunters are, as the name states, the ones who go out and collect food and prey for a Caravan. They are usually the physically strongest of the group, with great speed and stamanina used for tracking and chasing prey. Hunters can be male or female, but males are more common. There can be an unlimited number of them in a Caravan.
Rancher
Ranchers are the Defore who look after and protect the Caravan, both territory and members. They also keep track of food stocks and, on occassion, help the hunters. In Ciondre-ruled caravans, they're the gold diggers and treasure hunters. They do most of the physical labour in the Caravan, but are really no more than exahlted pioneers. They are also the ones who go between Caravans (and deal with humans) about trading goods. Ranchers can be male or female, and there can be an unlimited number of them in a caravan.
Artisan
Artisans are the resourceful and creative ones. They build, design, and craft homes, weapons, and other instruments. No Caravan is really complete without an artisan. They can be male or female, and there can be an unlimited number of them in a caravan.
Pioneer
Pioneers make up...everything else. They're the subordinates of the group, much like the Amuni followers (but not quite as worse off as Euclides Puppets). They do manual labour, just like the other Defore, but are mostly used as scouting parties, looking for new land to claim and stay Defore to welcome into their homes. There can be an unlimited number of Pioneers, and they can be male or female.
